His primary focus was Hatton after PBF beat Gatti and Hatton beat Zoo dummy. Hatton declined to fight him, Zoo lost and retired Arum wouldn't let Cotto within 4 time zones of PBF so PBF moved up to chase Zab.

 

Moved up to a weaker division.

 

Gatti was a title holder and the money man or media darling in the division. It was also a PPV fight. PBF had never had a PPV fight up until that point so he wanted Gatti. Nothing wrong with that. He was previously the man at 130 and 135 he earned that.

No PBF was never the man of the division because the man Hatton declined to face him saying he wasn't ready. So he was not given the opportunity to become the man.

Margo was a no body in the grand scheme of things he was a mere WBO title holder not the champ of the division beating him meant nothing. PBF wanted Zab who at the time the fight was agreed on was the man at 147. Zab lost to Baldo and was now the man so he fought him next. After that he then got the mega fight with Oscar at 154. What did he do wrong? Had he fought Margo instead of Baldo you'd be saying that he was never the man at 147 just like you're saying he was never the man at 140 right now. You can't have it both ways.
