GGG cannot continue to camp at MW, and fight stiffs, and want people to think that he a p4p fighter, or future HOF. If he's really as good as he and his fans think he is, then he needs to to move up to super middle and LHW. He definitely won't a problem getting the big names to fight him in those weight classes, and he can increase his profile and thus his earning potential all while cementing his legacy.

When you look at a guy like Mayweather, here you have guy who weighed 148 on fight night, fighting WW'S and Super WW's who weighed 165, 170lbs on fight night. Floyd didn't move up in weight because he outgrew the lower division, he did it because that's where the big names and the biggest fights were for him. Simply put, he dared to be great. He proved his talent and skill by beating men who were naturally bigger and enjoyed significnt weight advanatges over him.

Why is GGG afraid to do the same?? He can't get a big fight at MW, wo why doesn't he move up like many of the great MW's before him did? People claim he was stopping heavies in sparring so suely he can still bang at 168 and 175 where he can get big names like Kovalev, Ward, stevenson, Pascal, Hopkins, etc.... to fight him.

I listed 4 names at 168,175 that are easily light years ahead of anyone currently on his resume.

So he has to fight LHW's to prove himself. Why not apply this same logic to every good active fighter?

Super Middleweight is a garbage division at this point, he can move up beat DeGale and then what? No one else is worth all that much. At least MW has the potential to be thriving in the next year or two due to all of the great young fighters at MW, there's almost no prospects worth getting excited over at SMW.

^This. Hopkins could've stayed at 160 forever too and left a great legacy. Not like 168 is loaded with world-beaters right now.

So does Kovalev have to move to CW or HW one day to be validated?

Ward will have to beat the man at CW one day to prove himself.

He needs to move up should have when Froch and Ward were still around. Even still a win over Degale would go a long way of silencing his critics.

Yep, guys like Mayweather, DLH, Pac, Mosley all moved up 3,4,5, or 7 divisions. I understand that the disparity increases the higher up you go, but asking him to move up and 8 and 15lbs is nothing when you consider a guy like Floyd moved up 24lbs in his career.

If you want to be great you have to go get it.

I don't rate hagler as high as many others do. Some of his biggest wins were over blown up welters. He never challenged himself and moved up, but had the nerve to call out a 38 yr for moving up, after he's already won titles in 5 weight classes. Hypocrisy at his finest.

Like I said in another response, the disparity in divisions increases the higher you go so I can understand wby Kovalev wouldn't move up cause that would be a 25lb jump. But asking GGG to move up 8lb and 15lbs is reasonable since many fighters at the lower weights makes to transitions all the time in their careers.
