Golovkin walks around at 167-170 and he's campaigning in his 4th weight class since the age of 18. He was a world amateur champion at both junior-welter and MW and he's an Olympic silver medalist at MW as well. He's also won gold medals at welter and junior-middle at prestigious tournaments too.

    :good

Floyd fighting Canelo, is not the same as asking Golovkin to fight Kovalev, Stevenson and Ward etc.

Reach is hugely important. Probably more so than weight in most cases.

mayweather moved up 17 pounds and turned pro a lot younger, the going up of 5 divisions isn't as impressive as you think

Wade is getting close to 750K for his fight with GGG.

Jacobs, under Haymons advisement, would likely get close to twice that.

I can't see Jacobs throwing away that much money with little or no obligation from Haymon's investors.

Al has a solid MW stable, and allowing them to take an L once in a while to one another or even someone like GGG isnt gonna hurt him much.

He could let Jacobs dare to be GREAT, while making post fight arrangements to fight vs Eubank Jr for the WBA all over again, and on the PBC where he'll get great ratings, or in the UK where his fighter can sell out a stadium with a British super-star. :think

Greatness is far beyond the reach of the mediocre Golovkin.
He is content to fight in a long series of non-competitive events with his uneventful career ending as lesson in mediocrity.
What a waste that he may possess some of the skills but lacks the true ambition to be great.

Straight up he's not. GGG isn't big at all. Him and Floyd have similar frames but GGG is maybe 1.5 inches taller. GGG looks small in the ring actually.

ggg will move up when he's unified at 160. CanYello will bend the knee one way or another and then a move up is way closer.

I respect your opinion but I don't think reach is as important as weight, especially in determining the size of a fighter or which divisions he should or shouldn't be fighting in.

I agree that Golovkin isn't a big MW, I've never said he was, he looks like a medium sized MW to me. Based on size alone, he shouldn't be fighting LHW's but I also don't think Floyd is a big WW and based on size alone he shouldn't be fighting LMW's and MW's.
