You need a math tutor. Floyd started at 130lbs and won titles at 154lbs. That's 24lbs

In 2000 he won the Junior World Championships at Light Welterweight where the limit is 140 pounds. Now he's the 160 lbs champ. That's already 20 pounds and 4 weight classes. Also, Floyd's 154 crusade wasn't that impressive. Canelo was a great win but his other two fights there were Cotto and Maidana. That would be like Golovkin fighting Sturm and Murray at Super middle for titles. The Canelo win was good though, something like Golovkin beating Degale.

How about asking Floyd to fight Golovkin? I'd wager a large portion of people who are content with GGG only competing in one professional weight class would have happily campaigned for such a fight.

GGG has to move up to be great. If he had a weight class as stacked as LHW, maybe he wouldn't - but he doesn't. He has a Canelo fight and after that, all the talent is upwards. DeGale, Abraham, Ramirez are all better fights than what MW has to offer. Ward, Fonfara, Hopkins, Bute, Pascal - all makeable fights at the next weight up.

If we're classing fights as amateurs, Mayweather moved up 48lbs across his career which is 12 weight classes. Obviously nobody is counting that though. Professional fighting is what counts.

They don't want to accept the truth that GGG is a coward who doesn't want to move up and challeneg himself. He wants to call out WW'S and guys who won middleweight titles at 155lb catchweights. He's afraid to be outsized like a p4p great like Floyd has been for the latter half of his career.

It depends on the exact circumstances, but fighting someone with a 6-7 reach advantage over you, would be much more of a concern than the weight.

Canelo's weight advantage wasn't really significant against Floyd, because Canelo isn't anywhere near as skilled or as fast as Floyd, and Floyd has a bigger reach.

I respect your opinions as well. But my main point, was that although Floyd was outweighed by Canelo, it wouldn't be the same as GG fighting a guy like Kovalev.

MW has better options at the moment in my opinion, and he wants to unify a prestigious division.

I think he will move up in the future.

Again, I think LHW is too much of a jump.

    The reason is quite simple.

    He's a MW.
