Whats his excuse for chasing the titles after Ward has moved to LHW then?

You've got to be very naive if you think Ward wanted to fight last year.

He wasn't in a position to fight a big fight.

No fighter should ever be labelled a coward.

    It's a joke.

Canelo Alvarez!!! If Canelo drops the belt then what does he have beside anther sanctioning fee to pay for?

Be for real it's not about the belts, it's about "WHO" he beat for the belt.

There's nothing wrong with him trying to unify the MW division.

He can think about moving up after.

There's nothing much happening at SMW yet either.

The LHWs I listed could all be fought at CWs - moving from 160 to 171 or 172 is not a big jump if you're taking in a few fights at 168 too.

It would be the equivalent of a starting 147 fighting at a 158 catchweight.

Or a 130lb fighter eventually moving up to 140.

Or a 135 fighter moving up to fight at just under 147.

None of those jumps are seen as obscene - why is it too much to ask of Golovkin?

    What are you talking about?

Why do we want to see CW fights?

Why would the LHW's want to fight CW fights?

LHW is too much of a jump. He's not a huge MW. Sanchez says he walks around at 167.

    Kovalev walks around at 190.

Golovkin would be outweighed naturally by a lot of weight, and he'd have disadvantages in height and reach.

Catchweights are how big fights, which are otherwise impossible, can be made. I have no issue with catchweights in this regard. Every one of the guys I mentioned could comfortably fight at 172. I didn't mention Kovalev or Stevenson - because I think there is a difference there. Both those guys probably would be fighting at the next weight up if it wasn't such a jump.

I agree people need to stop throwing around the word coward. As a pro you decide for yourself what weight you are at your best. No one is obligated to move up, however I do put a lot of stock in guys having success at multiple weights

Yes, CW's for certain fights would be okay, but it's too much of an ask for him to be fighting at LHW.

The jump from MW to LHW, is exactly the same jump as LHW to CW.

I recently read an article where Kovalev seemed reluctant to move up to CW, because they could push him around with their extra size.

It's not just the natural weight that would bother Golovkin, it's also the height and reach too.

Stevenson has a 77" reach, to Golovkins at 70"

Hopefully, Golovkin will eventually accomplish all he can at MW, and then he'll move up to SMW if there's a good opportunity for him.

I can understand the fans frustrations, but you have to respect his wishes and his circumstances.

    200-175 = 25
    175 - 160 = 15

The equivalent jump for a 160 fighter in terms of ratio/percentage would be moving up to 183. `LHW to CW is a ridiculous jump. 160 to 168 and then 172 is not.

Using Stevenson's reach is a bit misleading. Kovalev's reach is only 72". Even then - nobody is asking him to fight these guys.

The guys I mentioned could all comfortably shrink down and meet him in the middle.

Golovkin isn't prompted by unification. Else he would have accepted GBP's offer at 156 last year and got it done.
Taking the fight at the CW would not have diminished the 160 title in the least and if they had stepped up, today Golovkin could possibly be undisputed.

K2, Sanchez and Golovkin are full of goat shet. :yep

Yes, I was thinking about Kovalev's walking around weight being 190 pounds.

I think I've misread your posts/got you confused with another poster. Yes, I agree with you, I wouldn't mind him fighting the guys you've mentioned if those fights could be made. But I don't think he deserves criticism if he doesn't take those types of fights.

I can see now that you don't expect him to move up fully to the LHW division. But many other members are demanding that to happen, which again, I think is unfair.

Personally, I'd like to see him fight Canelo, Saunders and Eubank, and then move up to SMW to fight DeGale.
