I don't tell anyone they have to stand and trade but it's a bit rich for Canelo fans to try and get all macho when he was on the back foot for pretty much the whole fight first time round.

He didn't want to employ that balls out Mexican style with Golovkin the first time round and I'd be amazed if he did the second time either.

Canelo powershots 114. Golovkin power shots 110.

La Chica "Woohoo! Major Canelo victory! GGG didn't land much power shots!!!!"

Powershots are virtually dead even, son

When Canelo shows up in a pair of track shoes and sprinting spikes to the fight these delusional fanboys are still going to be "Canelo is in savage mode! Get ready for the beatdown!"

Canelo has never been a balls out Mexican style fighter though, he's always been a counter puncher.

He stood right in front of GGG for large parts of the fight, whether it be in the centre or on the ropes and GGG was pretty ineffectual despite that. Let's not pretend Canelo is a runner, hell he was trading and even backing GGG up at some points.

It's his Mexican fans claiming him as the latest in a long line of hyper aggressive come forward Mexican fighters.

See, this is the kind of stuff I can’t understand.
Do you think Golovkin was trying to get Canelo out of there as quick as he could? If so, then you’re right, he didn’t do much in that regard.

He was very effective with what he did and how he did it, hence why 95% of boxing community had him as a winner. Why he didn’t do more? He didn’t need to.

You don't use punchstats to guage powershots.
On a punchstat sheet, a powershot is anything that's not a jab.
…...and as for his fight with Canelo, a great percentage of Golovkin's connects were
of the arm punch variety. Golovkin was literally hesitant to commit to his punches against
Canelo because he knew a hard counter was coming.

You're boxing dumb if you think Golovkin just forgot to employ a body attack. Golovkin wouldn't commit to a body attack because he feared Canelo's uppercuts.

Rewatch the fight and look at the times where Canelo is supposedly pinned to the ropes.
Golovkin himself stops throwing punches and distances himself from Canelo because unlike his fanbase, he realizes his punches are being rendered ineffective as Canelo is rope-a-doping him.
…...exactly, the same punches many are using to give Golovkin the round, Golovkin himself is in the know are ineffective and thus is pulling himself out of a situation where he can keep Canelo on the ropes.

Power punches have to be gauged by the eye test, not by a stat sheet. If you do that, Canelo outlanded
Golovkin over 2-1 on power connects.

Amazing. So that's why they have a specific category "powershots"

... as for Canelo, a lot of the stuff he was credited with was picked off on the gloves, he just plain missed or hit the arms that Golovkin was protecting himself with. Canelo was all flash and no substance, unable to land anything that got Golovkin's respect.

You're boxing moronic if you think Golovkin feared Canelita in any way

You need to watch the fight again and look at the parts where Golovkin has Canelo on the ropes. He picks him apart with the jab and sets up his power shots. I know there are dumbos out there that think GGG is a spaz that is supposed to flail away like Wilder, but in fact, he is a boxer with power, that outboxed Canelo.

Power shots can be guaged by the eye. Golovkin clearly landed more. You need to take the Canelo v Smith dvd out and watch the right fight.[/QUOTE]

Canelo landed some good ones. We all knew he would, he's an elite fighter. But people pretend that all GGG did was soft soap him with a jab when he was actually smashing Canelo's cranium around like a bobblehead. Nevermind that Golovkin's jab is often harder in itself than other fighters "power punches", fact is, the power shots according to compubox were about even and the jabs were massively in favour of Golovkin. Since they have nothing else to fall back on, the Canelitas like to pretend Canelo landed a truckload more power punches when in fact t'ain't so.

The only reason the punches LOOKED harder was because GGG was coming forward. Momentum taking him right into the punches. But GGG was begging Canelo to hit him so they could open up and trade. But canelo wouldn't. Meanwhile because Canelo backpeddled and momentum was always going backwards, GGGs punches didn't look as hard, But I assure u they were. There's a reason one man was completely comfortable coming forward and the other one felt he desperately needed to get away from the action. One man was doing what he always does, the other was just trying to survive.

if u watch the slomo video's around, there's a reputable source that does the punches landed and it was like 188-81 for GGG and u see all those punches each guy landed. It was a wipe out for GGG.
