I rewatched GGG v Stevens tonight, and I tell you what, as we already know, defence wise (leaving himself open to a massive left), Golovkin is pretty rubbish. Yes I know it comes as part of his style bla bla bla, but if GGG's going to take some damage, there's the opening!!
I like GGG. But Murray is better than anything he has fought so far. He dropped Sergio and should of got the win. This will be a good test and measuring stick for GGG and for us to judge.
Thanks, but it wasn't that good, GGG was never in trouble and almost ended it early with body shots. I think he played with him a bit to maybe lure in some other guys that would see something to work with. Kind of suspicious that he stopped working the body once he hurt him there, but props for Murray to keep trying.
I think Murray was doing a good job moving to the right just in time before GGG could set up that left hook.
Let me get this right in case i missread. Golovkin deliberately backed off Murray and let Murray hit him so that others at 160 might get a glimmer of hope and step up to the plate ? You want locking up
To me it looked like he played with him for awhile after dropping him with the body shots. He stopped throwing hard to the body right after that. I think he wanted the K.O. but not early. At the end when he was trying to knock him out, GGG was just putting his nose right in his face and tempting him to throw so he could counter him hard. The only carrot Murray was going to go for was a sure hit, so Golovkin let him take those up close shots where he had no leverage, in exchange for his Big shots. It worked, Chavez Jr. Immediately took to twitter saying he would be able to KO GGG. ( a fight he previously ducked) I imagine some others felt encouraged also.
:good Excellent OP I had the same feeling before the fight but as I said before the fight, you never know when the fight will end with GGG because he has the power and ability to end it at any time. Regarding GGG playing with his opponents - I don't think he does it so other guys will fight him, I think he does it simply because he can afford to and to get his opponents to open up a bit and maybe also to make the fights more entertaining for the fans.
wrong. wrong, and... wrong. atsch here's a 6 1/2 minute interview with Murray post-fight. his left eye is horrible. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDIMU2rQQqA
