Definitely in the first fight it was a clear robbery, which certainly didn’t help him in the second one.
GGG is past his due by date, unfortunately. I can understand his frustration and anger as he clearly won the first bout, and the vast majority of boxing experts believe that as well. The second fight can be argued to have been a draw, but in no way was it a ginger victory. It's a shame, but in the years to come all people will see is Draw-Loss on his record. He is dead meat in a third bout, IMO. And this his history will look even worse than it looks now...Draw...Loss. TKO by.
Golovkin has no one to blame but himself. Once he got that big HBO hype machine behind him he was only concerned about big money. He was chasing old man Martinez, old small man Cotto, 154 Canelo.. Meanwhile there were young prime fighters ready and willing to fight him, but he completely ignored them. After the near Jacobs disaster, he became even more of a cherry picker. He avoided undefeated Derevyanchenko in his prime, once he had a horrible showing against a Journeyman and then a loss against Jacobs, Golovkin then is interested in fighting him and imo lost, but of course he was gifted the fight as it was close and the big networks still needed a return on their investment. Had Golovkin fought the best he would still be a household name today, or possibly retired with more money.
Yeah the first fight was one of the most disgusting robberies I have seen it was easily 116-112 for GGG The second fight upon re watching I had it 115-113 for GGG at a push it could have been 114-114 no way Canelo did enough to win either fight. I now understand GGG's bitterness he deserved so much better I saw on social media today that he and Andre Ward are going at each other LOL.
He was chasing the Top Middlweight's first Felix Sturm ducked him from 2008 till 2012 in 2010 when Golovkin left Germany and moved to the US it was Pavlik who was the top middlweight. Pavlik lost vs Martinez. Martinez was 35 years old but the number one at middlweight he ducked Golovkin too. When Martinez lost vs Cotto, Cotto was the Top middeweight and he ducked Golovkin also. Same as catchweight King Meatnelo later Name one @160 @160 not @ 155 caneloweight So he should have fought Derevyanchenko instead of Jacobs and Cleanelo ? If he had done this you would call Derevyanchenko a bum here.
Golovkin is trapped in the past. He was a hot commodity after the Canelo fights. They both came out of that on about level terms in the eyes of the boxing public. Golovkin may have been viewed even higher by the majority of folks. And Golovkin was awarded with a big $100 million contract for six fights. And instead of further elevating himself he picked a selection of nobodies to cash out with. How big would Golovkin be right now if he was the one who signed to fight Kovalev and Bivol and even Saunders ... instead of Steve Rolls and that ilk. By the time Canelo's career is over, his win over Golovkin probably won't even be viewed as the biggest win of his career. I couldn't even tell you who was the best guy Golovkin actually scored a win over. Jacobs? Geale? Ouma? He's made many many millions fighting nobodies the last handful of years. And he's still complaining. He took $15 million to fight Steve Rolls. Not Bivol. Not Kovalev. Not Beterbiev. Steve Rolls. And he wants people to feel sorry for him? Golovkin made his own bed. If he doesn't like where his career is right now, that's on him.
