Eastern Euro face off would make big money and it offers Sturm a shot at redemption and maybe now he's not defending a belt he'll be more willing to take a challenge.

Sturm is everything that is wrong with boxing .

With one belt per divsion he would barely be a contender definately lost twice to those British boys.

just seems like his team is pickin the safety first fight. i only seen him fite once vs proska and highlites of him knockin bute out in the amateurs. just seems like he would take more of a dangerous fight. sturm hasnt looked good sense he stepped up n fought macklin

Not a bad opponent, but he's looking to get something done for before the New Yr, and it'd be a better money maker than Geale who'll likely duck anyways.:think

Wtf, if anything he should be going after DeGale.

GGG your time is now man, don't fight lesser opposition, those days are over if you want to make it big. I could see if Sturm is a stay busy fight, but that's if the fight was going to happen next month.

I mean there isn't exactly a crowd of ranked people wanting to face Golovkin right now, so if Sturm is his only option to avoid sitting on the shelf for almost a year, I guess that's understandable.

It's really simple. Golovkin is a huge threat to anybody at Middleweight, yet he has no real fan base. Why fight a dangerous guy who brings no money to the table? Sturm will give him exposure and a decent purse.

Sturm is still a legit top 5 contender imo. Not as good as a fight with Martinez or Chavez, but since neither of those two will be fighting again before the end of the year Sturm is as good a fight as Macklin, Geale, Pirog etc.

Let's not forget, there'll still be boxing in 2013. He can fight Sturm this year and those other guys next year.

I can see why, Sturm is a name in the division unfortunatly, and GGG is probably trying to make a splash and get his name out there a little more by beating up Sturm in a big way. If he could stop Sturm it would still be a good achivement and if Pirog is injured (already tried to make a fight with him) Chavez is injured, Martinez is injured, already beat Proksa,

then it only leaves Geale and Sturm. Maybe they want to fight Sturm first, make a statement, and then fight the man that beat Sturm.

By then, Martinez will be back and a fight with him would be possible. At this point Martinez, Chavez, and I think even Pirog are no goes for G3.
