well i see one of two possibilities. 1. This is just Canelo filling out finally after draining down for so long and he might be more comfortable and stamina not be an issue or 2. He has bulked up to be stronger at mw in hopes of more power and durability in which case yes. He is going to gas and be gone by the 8th, maybe sooner. Big mistake.
As dealt_with says above, the strategy seems to bulk Canelo up so he can absorb GGG's power better. I said this in another thread and will repeat it here. My thoughts on Canelo's strategy for the fight: -------> Bulk up to handle GGG's power better (like Jacobs did) -------> Steal rounds and trust the "Canelo Judges" to help you out -------> Do whatever you have to do in order to last 12 rounds I think the bulking up is part of the plan. Jacobs is the only person to last 12 rounds with GGG in GGG's career. Jacobs was probably about 180 on fight night. Jacobs purposely skipped the second-day weigh-in so he could bulk up more. And I think there is no rehydration clause in this fight so I'd expect Canelo will go for the full post-weigh-in bulk up himself. It could backfire. On the other hand, I don't think GGG's cardio is what it used to be. So maybe Canelo ends up ok. If he gasses, of course, then he'll get taken out. But if he's too small, he'll get taken out anyways.
Golovkin has to take drug tests, Alvarez does not. Golovkin has to weigh 170 the day of the fight, Alvarez can weight whatever he wants, Alvarez gets 70% of the money, Golovkin only gets 30%, Alvarez/Oscar own the judges, referee, boxing commission, Bob Bennett, Alvarez comes into the ring as the champion, although he is not, Golovkin has to come into the ring first and as the challenger, notice that on the advertisements it's called Alvarez/Golovkin, Alvarez has the fight in his venue, Golovkin has the disadvantage. Jacobs and SOB wanted Alvarez to come into the fight heavier, he will, heard the name Heredia or however you spell it, could mean something, like PEDS. Will all this help Alvarez? Don't forget that Alvarez has a rematch clause, Golovkin was not allowed to have one. If Golovkin had knocked out Jacobs, Oscar would never have made that fight. However, Oscar made sure of the rematch clause, also made sure that Golovkin could not have one. Alvarez is in the fight to last 12 rounds, so he can get a decision, no matter how many punches he takes or how many times he gets knocked down. Jacobs went the distance, but Golovkin did not throw any body punches at all......................that's Golovkin's best punch...............Golovkin will win the fight, but if it goes the distance Oscar will win the fight, therefore they will give the gift to Alvarez. Why has Oscar already made a deal with the WBO for a fight with Alvarez, Oscar did not want Golovkin to fight for that title. If I would have been Golovkin, I would have fought for the WBO, but Oscar's deal stopped that right quickly...................Golovkin with the WBO title, he would have had them all and then he would have had bargaining power, but instead, he had no bargaining power, Alvarez got all the advantages. I wonder how much Tony Weeks will help Alvarez, if not Weeks, it will be another criminal.........................Look for this fight to be corrupt! Watch and see................plus, if Alvarez were to win, by hook or by crook, he will get a rematch with Mayweather...............that will be a huge money fight........................that's is what I have been reading, hearing and seeing on one video after another.........................the street grape vine is usually correct..............
I think he might be coming out to try and destroy GGG, that's all I can think of, like that might be his tactics. Cant see him bulking up for a long fight. I think hes going to try it and be ****ed once GGG rides the storm
It could be that he is preparing himself for 5rds fight. According to Macklin and Andy Lee, it is the only way to fight Golovkin.
I think Alvarez is planing on surviving so his judges will give him a decision.....................he knows it's impossible for him to lose a decision, no matter how many punches he takes or how many times he gets knocked down..........
That's absolutely incorrect, it's more the equivalent of a 400-800m sprint/run in terms of energy system proportions and lactate levels. Muscle is important for power and injury prevention, if you think boxing is anything like a marathon you're crazy. Marathon runners who are smart lift weights anyway, to develop leg strength/power, decrease injury risk and improve running efficency.
GGG didn't train nearly as long as Canelo, it's not overtraining. Rather, GGG often drops weight for the 7-day or 30-day weigh-in as a dry run for the actual weigh-in. He'll rehydrate back to 170 or so in the ring.
There's a whole thread revolving around a "special" poster who thinks adding a bit of muscle makes no difference to punch resistance Obviously he is going to be able to take GGG's shots better if his neck is braced up by extra muscle. But what I think the muscle will also do, is make him gas faster especially if Golovkin sets a fast pace.
