GGG is a moron if he doesn't fight Canelo at 155

Take the belt, fight Lee to become undisputed Middleweight champ, and then maybe fight Canelo at a cw for sh#&s and giggles.

Well Gennady made mention he'd go down to 154 to fight FLoyd, so I'd imagine he could make 155lbs to fight Canelo without compromising his health/stamina too much.

If Golovkin feels he can make the weight without giving up too much physically, he should go for it. I think it's the only way he'd be able to lure a big name guy to fight him at this juncture, and Canelo has the biggest name of anyone that's campaigning in and around Gennady's weight class currently.

Um, Canelo's walk around weight is 170 pounds!

Fight for the lineal middleweight title at 160 pounds. The winner has a historical win.

    THIS ^

But Canelo could still drop the belt and GGG would be out of a nice payday.

    I agree tbh.

In an ideal world they would fight at 160 but if the choice is fight at 157 or don't fight at all I'd rather they fought at a catchweight.

I'd much rather see the two fight then see fans going on about who ducks who.

I agree. We just did this with Mayweather Pac and the fight came 5 years too late. I think Canelo is fine at 160 I actually believe that should be his weight now but if he wants to squeeze an advantage of 3lbs by draining Triple G. Ok. If he wants more than that Triple G should decline and have Canelo stripped. WBC has already stated mandatories are 160. So GGG does have leverage it's just a case does he want to forfeit the big payday.

GGG is Canelo's biggest payday as well.

Cant force the mandatory to fight at a catchweight.
    Fight or drop the belt.

Canelo is overrated. GGG knocks him out at any weight. Judges won't be an issue. And Canelo is not the A side.

Canelo can`t put demands, simple as that.
He fight at 160 or he should be strip from the title. He will look like a coward in people mind.

Not all of the cards. He will lose the belt if he avoids it.

From everything golovkin has said, he's not going to drain weight for a mandatory fight. Clearly he sees a difference between doing something electively and doing something that he's forced to do in order to reach his goals (I'd eat only bread and water for two weeks if I HAD to, but not if I had the choice for example) .

If we go by what golovkin has said, his goal is to unify the belts, not to make the most money possible at any given time. For all we know, he could live like a Kazak king(though he's currently in LA) on the income that he's already getting and feels less pressure to go for the big money fight if it puts him at a competitive disadvantage.

Besides, canelo has said that in 1-2 years he could be ready for 160. In that case, Golovkin could go after the Lee-Saunders fight in the UK and probably get 7 figures (like he did for the lesser known lemeiux) then work on his mandatories until Canelo is ready.

By that time, golovkin would likely have cleaned out the division and Canelo would probably have few choices for a big fight that golovkin hasn't already demolished.

Golovkin from, what he's saying, seems to be quite content with unifying the titles and be the big roadblock waitingfor when Canelo moves up in weight, which is probably likely as he grows older and from what we've seen with his current weight cutting

So you don't think Canelos fans (who have been okay with him creating his own dumb weight class for 4 fights) will still defend his "155 or nothing" proposition? His fans will defend him and make Golovkin look like the chicken. They were ok with him WINNING it at 155 so what's the difference? Wake up.

I will POINT OUT AGAIN, I am not defending this, I am simply pointing out the reality.

This is exactly it. We (as fans) always think in ideal terms. All I'm saying is that IN REAL LIFE stuff doesn't work like that. Bottom line, as Canelo has REPEATEDLY said, is that the fight goes at 155. YES Golovkin has other options but none nearly as lucrative. These are facts.
It is my opinion that, should Golovkin not agree to 155, Canelo gets maybe 1 or 2 "exceptions" or possibly even "drops the belt in protest" saying he tried to make the fight... and guess what? His fans will defend it.

Golovkin would be a fool to give in to a catchweight. Why should he when they are both champs at 160. Golovkin should move on and get the other belt.
