GGG is - at the very least - the Greatest middleweight since Hagler

Since Hopkins for sure. Hagler and Hopkins were better Middleweight champions.

 

Jones, Hopkins, Toney, and Martinez beat him. Canelo already beat him imo.
These fighters I think are better than GGG.
Jacobs as well beat him. Then you have fighters like J. Taylor, Pavlik, Paul Williams, and a few others that are better fighters than anyone GGG has ever faced, and so no GGG isn't the best fighter since Marvelous Marvin Hagler.

I'm not even mentioning Ray Leonard and Tommy Hearns who both fought at 160 lbs after Hagler retired.

 

I agree 100% other than I had G beating Jacobs by one round but DJ and Canelo surpass beat him in the rematch. These fanboys need to stop with this nonsense. I'm not sure if OP is serious or if he's trolling but there's very little to nothing G sets himself apart with against DJ and Canelo, let alone the people you and others have already listed in this thread of middleweights.

This thread triggered the Anti-Golovkin cheerleaders

 

He did TKO him. Yet a totally shot former 154 pounder managed to outwork and land him for a good bit of the fight and almost lasted the distance. Worth noting if you are going to note his great performances and compare him to HOF-level fighters. Not noting it or pretending it's something to point to that Golovkin walks through HOF-level fighters, well, that would be strange.

 

Golovkin is definitely significantly better than that nobody.

 

Margarito has fought more people. G has fought more Golden Johnsons

 

Ouma was competitive in 6 close decision losses.

He won a few early rounds against Golovkin, got beat within an inch of his life, stopped, and hospitalized for brain bleed. He lost two years of what should have been the prime of his career. It was a brave performance but he didnt expose anything. It was a competitive fight that turned into a one sided massacre. And you are clinging to this like its a Rosetta Stone.

G fads? Well, all fads end...eventually. We are fast approaching 7 years since the Ouma fight. Thats a long fad.

That's a polite way of putting it. He took an unnecessarily prolonged beating that could have cost him his life, the fight should have been stopped at least two rounds previously. He was hospitalized for brain bleed and lost over two years of his career.

He was up 5 rounds to 4 on two scorecards in a fight that was competitive for it's first half. However, it became a one sided beat down as I pointed out and he didn't make it out of the 10th.

The fight was scheduled for 12 rounds and he didn't make it out of the 10th. I wouldn't call that "almost lasting the distance", that's one hell of a stretch.

So what exactly do you feel this fight proved? In his 20th Pro fight, Golovkin lost some rounds to a veteran Southpaw, but then spent 4 rounds beating him into the hospital. What is the takeaway there? It was Ouma's first knockout loss in 12 years as a seasoned fringe contender. If anything the fight showed that despite his shortcomings, Ouma was a tough guy to take as many flush shots as he did from Golovkin, even if the results were pretty nasty and essentially ended his career as a decent earner.

 

Golovkin is one of my favorite active fighters and while i think he was ducked for a long time and beat Canelo I dont think I can call him the best middleweight since Hagler. I think I'd be ok calling him the best since Hopkins or at least top 5 since Hagler

As others pointed out the division still had loads of talented fighters fight in it.
