GGG is absolutely the greatest middleweight since Hagler and after he smashes Hopkins title defense record with a few more big fights he will be in the GOAT middleweight conversation.

    The Kentucky Cobra,

Sumbu Kalambay was seen as a gimme?

    Ha!

It's the statement from you that means absolutely nothing. You can't know much about Mike, if you honestly think that he wouldn't have had a chance of beating Marvin.

How does it shoot down my argument?

Yes, Mike could have moved up earlier. But that doesn't mean that Marvin would have fought him. Again, Duran and Hearns didn't want Mike. And Bob Arum had to talk Marvin into fighting Mugabi. Marvin had considered retirement before fighting Mugabi, but Arum says he decided to take the fight in a moment of weakness.

Mugabi appealed more to the fans. He had the style and the knockouts that hyped the fight.

If Marvin hadn't been fully committed to fighting Marvin when it was first proposed, then what makes you think he'd have been willing to take on Mike?

    These gifs aren't helping you.

Possibly. But a fast and awkward fighter who possessed a 77" reach would bother anybody.

You don't know that Marvin would definitely have caught him.

Marvin could be bothered by speed.

    How so?

    The Kentucky Cobra,

Which other eras do you think Wlad could have dominated for 10 years?

Break down for me why you think what GG is doing is remarkable.

    You're talking absolute nonsense.

They were very respected by the boxing fraternity.

Chris Eubank publicly declared that he didn't want to fight Herol due to his awkwardness.

Joe Calzaghe said that Herol would have been the most awkward when he was asked about how he'd have fared in the early 90's mix with Herol, Eubank, Benn, Watson and Collins.

Mike McCallum says that Herol was one of the best boxers he ever fought.

Mike also said that Kalambay was a very dangerous fighter who possessed the best defence out of everyone he fought.

Nigel Benn said that Kalambay was the man to beat at MW, before anyone could make a claim that they were the best MW in the world.

    The list was:

    Roy
    Toney
    Reggie
    Nunn
    Gerald
    Jackson
    Mike
    Collins
    Benn
    Eubank
    Watson
    Kalambay
    Graham

Again, Marvin could not have dominated a MW division that contained the above guys.

    It's a complete fantasy.

He was a 157 pound fighter in many of his fights, in the days of same day weigh-ins.

I don't think anyone in history could have dominated a division containing the above guys.

    Because you say so?

They weren't rated as highly as SOME of the guys who Marvin fought.

Golovkin is ahead of Sturm since 2009 when chicken Sturm ducked his mandatory (Golovkin) paid the WBA and got that Superbelt. Sturm needed robberies vs Macklin, Murray and lost vs Geale. Golovkin stopped them all

Martinez was very good but had also problems with Murray and Macklin while GGG beat them clearly Golovkin is ahead of him since 2014 in my opinion

no. he only won a recognised title in 2014, there is no way what you say holds water in terms of ranking acheievments! 2009? 3G doesnt have a time machine dude!!

He surpassed Sturm WHEN he SURPASSED HIM - in terms of defences made, not some fictional nonsense you or me decide to make up. We must stick to facts kk, no matter how big fans we are.

Therefore 3G passed Sturm when he beat Lemiux in 2015 or Wade in 2016, because thats when he both topped Sturms defences AND added a second recognised title, surpassing Sturm in 2 ways that night.

In that case Arthur Abraham is above Golovkin because Sturm turned down the biggest pay day of his carer at the time to avoid a highly demanded fight with King Arthur.
That was a high profile duck in front of the entire boxing world while nobody knew who GGG was therefore there was nothing to duck.

Arthur also has more defenses of a real title than GGG.
    11 IBF MW defenses
Two weight world champ with 6 WBO World title defenses at 168
He has the 4th most successful defense count in MW history and competed in a whopping 25 world title fights.

Hagler - Hopkins - Abraham- Martinez - Golovkin.

    LMAO

Roy went from 160 all the way up to winning a title @ HW. Bumlovkin is still cleaning up slop @ middleweight. Trumping Roy's legacy is not in the cards for the Triple Duck. Even if he beat Andre Ward @ LHW...

Sturm knew exactly who GGG is and that he can't beat him. Until 2010 they trained in the same gym

Actually I had forgotten about Abraham, I admit that.

ok I amend my statement, 3G is the most accomplished MW since Abraham. That is still a smacker of a statement, mind you.

KK we should admit when we are wrong.I did. Arthur did more than 3G at MW ....SO FAR.
We both have faith that he will top Arthurs defence length soon.

We should be happy that 3G is the most accomplished since Abraham, who is a 2 weight title holder.
I tihnk we can both agree for sure who is the best H2h between them at MW.
