GGG is - at the very least - the Greatest middleweight since Hagler

1) I agree GGG is a natural middleweight. That doesn't mean that he never tried to get fights at 168.
2) He tried to fight Chavez at 168.
3) He tried to fight Froch at (iirc) 172.

4) His camp proposed fighting Ward at 168. Ward said no.

Evidence:

That was Ward's trainer. Then, Ward himself weighed in afterwards:

He didn’t want the fight. He wanted to push it out 2 or 3 years. Once you go up, you can’t come back down. If he wants to come up, that’s another story. I’m not going back down,” said Ward."

GGG aint no style strategist either, he just fights whoever is on offer and then does his thing doesn't he. Ward is another story altogether. Froch if he was younger would've fought GGG without a doubt, at the drop of a hat. I don't mind Froch half wanting it but then retiring and ducking it, its not like he fought again against someone else. Ward on the other hand has to weigh things up so it suits him too much. Really glad the fellas gone !

 

Would have loved Froch / Golovkin. I know Froch was getting on in years but he looked in terrific shape.

 

the only case closed is that 3G never move up to take a warmup fight at SMW with which to enter SMW ranks and land a title shot.

It is painfully obvious that 3G doesnt care about a "lesser" division like SMW. He is old school, believes only in the traditional divisions.

He did yeah. I think that age would've showed up fighting GGG though, as tough as he was. GGG imo was near prime when it was talked about. Froch was a G bigtime. Not many get up from that Shot Groves landed

I suspect Froch / GGG would have been a jabfest like Lemieux / GGG. Golovkin would be unwise to get into the trenches with a guy like Froch when he has other options.

At the moment, yes, i do fail to help you show 3G making a move to SMW. Becasue noone on the planet can show this, it hasnt happened.
