The Golovkim mystique will disappear after a few years when his career will be represented by the fact he arguably lost to the two best Middle's he ever faced.

There's plenty of 160 pounders throughout history who would've easily beat , even knocked out the Canelo he fought.
He isn't greater than Hopkins. Its unknown if he could have beaten Benn , Eubank or Pirog. Martinez holds greater accomplishments beating Pavlik and being the lineal MW champion.

He needed to blow Canelo away in order to claim he's the best since Hagler. He didn't come anywhere close to it.

 

You misunderstood me.
If GGG fights Saunders, Charlo, Jacobs, Derevenchenko there will be interest and excitement. BUT. I think the majority of boxing fans have seen what GGG is capable of. So when I say on to the next, what I mean is the next superstar in boxing as GGG wont be at this level much longer.

 

Greatness and H2H ability are two different things.

The Jones that beat Hopkins and Toney is the best H2H of recent memory for me, but his reign was brief before moving up so he ranks low on ‘greatness’ as a MW.

Likewise, Martinez ranks higher on greatness than GGG for me because Martinez had some great dance partners that elevated him. But Martinez went life and death with opponents less skilled, accurate and powerful than GGG, and I think GGG knocks him out.
