    Not as much as GGG.

Bernard fought alot of "lesser" guys and struggled with the types of fighters GGG gets flack for destroying.

hes made four good defences, including canelo, and almost as many acceptable staybusys.

That is not equal or bettering at all. the man started in his 30s, no way is he going to be an equalling/bettering type.

You can certainly argue hes dominated during that short period, as would I, being a massive 3G fan.

I counted Lipsey, Oscar, and Trinidad already. So you are double counting them.

JDJ looks to be #9 in 1996, so we can count him.
Eastmen is #1 in 2005, big miss on my part.

Vanderpool was not rated as of April 2000, by which point the Hopkins fight was already set.

So we are looking at something like 8-9 to 10-11 RING rated opponents not counting rematches. You implied a huge gulf in that category and that doesn't look to be the case anyway you slice it.

Irrelevant to the discussion of who is the more dominant Middleweight.

You seem to value top 10 ratings. So let's compare:

Golovkin's 19 defenses..10 were Rated by RING. 9 were not.

Of Hopkins' 21 defenses..12 were Rated by RING. 9 were not.

I don't see a huge difference here. How you figure Golovkin only fought bums when his top 10 defense ratio is closing in on Hopkins?

And I could only imagine your criticism if Golovkin's numbers were inflated by rematching someone he already knocked out or dominated.

I never looked at these numbers before, and frankly I must admit I'm shocked. I didn't think Hopkins and Golovkin were that close in terms of fighting RING rated opponents. I already thought Golovkin had the case for being more dominating, and this is certainly an interesting development.

the issue is whenever someone criticises your hero you throw your toys out of the pram, it seems.

i think hagler is awesome but I'd be first to admit he wasnt smart enough to beat SRL nor knew how to plan for great longevity.

U must admit both strengths and weaknesses. You never will.

I'm confused by this. He had over 60 fights most fighters retire before they get close to that number

Golovkin is a great underrated middleweight fighting against prejudice against Eastern European fighters................

Proska, Macklin, Stevens, Geale, Rubio, Murray, Lemieux, Jacobs. Thats 8. Canelo was neither a win nor a dominant performance. Your argument is GGGs reign was more substantial and more dominant than Hopkins.
Its not possible when Hopkins has close to double the amount of wins against top 10 rated opponents.
GGGs defense of an interim title is meaningless. Sturm held the real WBA belt was was defending it against top 10 ranked fighters.
The fact GGG was a paper champ while Sturm was the real champ will never change. Plus GGG was never the man at MW. Hopkins was for 4 years.
. As of now Gs best achievements are close fights against Jacobs and smaller guy Canelo. We all saw what Hop done to guys who moved up. History books will never rate GGG over Hopkins. His record is as good as its going to get , i doubt it'll get any better. It could get worse if he takes a loss to smaller man Canelo in the rematch.

he was declining at age 31, is what I mean. Someone with better longevity would have lasted longer.

Perhaps it was a partly mental barrier - he felt hard done by with SRL and couldnt get over it to continue.

what toy write is fact, however 3G is not retired yet, he may yet defend another 14 times o equal hopkins.

you must wait till end of career if you are to make a sweeping statement. 3G may prove u wrong with a late run of 14 defences before xmas.

3g must find these ridciulous threads wholly embarrassing. he knows he never won a title until after the age hagler had retired from being an atg mw.
