I was aware of Calzaghe but had not seen him up to that point. Since that fight I've seen most of his career fights before Lacy and have studied his career thoroughly.

    Fair play.
His fights with Woodhall, Reid, Eubank were all big fights. The Starie fight was a reasonably decent size fight and level wise similar to Froch/Groves in that it was a world champ against a British champ from the same shores which brings interest. Starie was a decent SMW.
I remember a bit of hype when Sheika was in the UK. He was being showcased and his team were saying something like if he doesnt become a world champ it would be their fault. He was in the UK a couple of times and had beaten a fighter on a Calzaghe undercard then he fought on a Eubank undercard and against an underated LHW who didnt have a top record but who could produce upsets and was outpointed

his fight with woodhall wasnt big, woodhall was crippled with a back injury and retired immediatel after, it was a joke the fight was allowed.

eubanks was a fair test but a standin from 2 divisions away ofr a vacant unrecognised title to boot is never a big fight.

reid was however a good solid defence, you are right there, although arguably joe lost it or drew with reid.

Starie is somewhat less than groves, being unable to land world title shots (wbo wasnt recognised so that didnt count) until sven ottke faked him a shot when he was retiring. Groves has landed title shots on numerous occasions.

Sheika was a weak defence. Hes not won anything in his life.
