Chavez has a lot of potential. The kid looked GREAT in his last showing against Vera.

He's clearly come a long way since his first loss against Martinez.

He's a multi-dimensional fighter. His boxing has improved significantly. I noticed this during the first Vera fight, when he was completely out of shape and clearly didn't take the fight seriously, but showcased some of his ability.

In the second fight, he proved he could fight on the back foot and come foward to finish the fight.

I think he could make some improvements with his aggressive defense, but he has not reached his limit. He will continue to improve.

I don't know if I see the same thing with GGG, but admittedly, it's hard to tell, and nobody has come close to beating him, so he hasn't had to make any adjustements.

I can see how GGG would become uncomfortable when pushed back, and Chavez has the size and the strength to do this.

Chavez has the boxing ability to switch it up as well and make it difficult for GGG to implement his gameplan.

If I'm GGG, I do whatever I can to fight guys like Quillin and other in my own division, as well as bring up guys from 154 before I fight Chavez at 168.

If Chavez continues to improve, he might even beat Ward, who appears to be at his ceiling.

well atleast its a step up for GGG so atleast we can agree thats a good thing, i think GGG can use this opportunity against chavez to showcase his boxing ability rather then his brutality. if he can knock chavez down or out then he really proves his greatness but if he is able to really humiliate him with superior boxing ability then im satisfied in saying he is a great boxer

CHavez can beat Ward only if Ward breaks both of his hands on Jr head, he would beat him with one good hand easy, Chavez uses face as defense even with slower fighters he would not see Ward punches coming at all easy night for Ward.
GGG wins late TKO Chavez corner stops it.

Honestly, Ward's boxing ability is slightly overrated.

His smothering and inside fighting ability is great, but Chavez is strong, tough, and mean.

I think Ward might still have the advantage on the inside, but on the outside, they're almost even.

Ward has olympic pedigree, but he tends to look stiff and mechanical on the outside. I think he's a more cognizant defender than Chavez, but Chavez looks smoother and more relaxed on the outside.

    Ward is overrated to me.

Stevenson would KO him and Kovalev might be too big.

I think Ward is a one division fighter. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but I don't think he can beat the top guys at 175.

    youre just an idiot
    heres your quote
"He's clearly come a long way since his first loss against Martinez."
seriously? a long ways is getting your ass kicked in fight 1 vs a guy with 6 losses and winning fight 2 against the same guy?
hes come a long way because he fought brian vera twice? youre just dumb

Unlike you who's BD gets in the way of his ability to process thoughts, I can think on my own.

    I don't have a disability like you.

Brian Vera is not any worse than some of Chavez opposition prior to fighting Martinez, yet he's doing things now he cleary wasn't doing before.

I can see for myself that he's been improving, and people are going to be in for a shock when he beats GGG.

GGG is a good fighter, but I think GGG should stay at middleweight and get that scared ass Quillin in the ring.

Or wait for Canelo or whomever to move up.

How is it a mistake for a talented fighter like GGG who wants to be a superstar to step up and fight another talented fighter like Jr who also wants to be a superstar?

A mistake is some 8 rounder prospect stepping up too soon and getting smashed, not two people who still have a lot to prove about their career trying to prove something.

Good comment. I could not have said this better.

You are right that they both have something to prove, and I think only one of these fighters will emerge from this match.

I think Chavez is basically too lazy to take GGG seriously and will pay for it. Motivation has always been his problem.

GGG handlers need $ so they are sending GGG on a mission... Hopefully he returns back to 160 after this is done & we don't hear about him going into deeper waters

This is the fight every ones been waiting for.
    GGG finally steps up.
If GGG wins, he'll quiet his nay-sayers.
If he loses, he enters the Lucien Bute zone.
