Golovkin and Loeffler are probably relieved that someone actually wants to fight. Loeffler has had great difficulty in finding decent opponents who are willing to step in the ring with Gennady.
Well, the good news is they saw the fight (Golovkin's team) and go so excited that said Stevens deserves a title shot against GGG! Btw, they offered Murray more money that he got against Martinez, to be GGG's next opponent, and he turned them down. So now they are waiting for an approval from HBO, if they approve Stevens, it's on.
theres been a shift in golovkin's favor though. network backing puts him in a good spot...better than geale just a shame Martinez had injuries and geale took his $$$ fight against mundine - for which I bet he got paid more than the Sylvester and sturm fights...AND a prospective golovkin fight...rolled into one
i mean knocked down twice against brinkley..... yes... this is the guy GGG is scared of. What a joke, if Stevens can't get you out in the first 3, he's putty
Probably, 32 posts a day of trolling, I wish the site would stop letting people sign up now, the trolls are out in full force
Interesting quote above from lester proctor. It does seem like Stevens' promoters want to wait for this fight. GGG could not be more avoided is if he had AIDS. On a side note Stevens is from Brownsville Brooklyn just like Shannon Briggs. He actually reminds me of a middleweightish version of Briggs. Right down to the excessive PED usage.
C'mon fellow scribes. Don't fall for this low information dumbed down poster. No GGG vs Stevens fight will be happening, and thank the boxing gods. Team stevens can boost there value by calling out GGG, but when the interviewer asked curtis about the fight 1st stevens replied that it was GGG who really wanted the fight and that they were just responding. Didn't sound like an eager fighter to me. If main events puts stevens in with GGG then they lose any and all investment and a small time promoter would be committing suicide. With that being said, i'm only interested in seeing GGG in with the top guys at 160. He's paid his dues on the lower level and proven himself worthy of only the very best in the sport. Stevens is a club fighter where you only have to remember one thing. DON'T STAND RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM WITH YOUR CHIN UP AND HANDS DOWN OR WHILE THROWING WIDE SHOTS. Do that and you win.
I was laughing in his boxingvoice interview, he was criticizing Chocolate and GGG for fighting guys who fought 154... then they asked him about Saul Roman moving up
