He wouldn't shut GGG out, no way. I believe he beats him as well but not by a complete shut out.

Ward could not handle the brutality that is GGG.

Golovkin is too powerful, accurate, composed, skilled and defensively sound.

It might be a close fight at times, but as soon as Ward gets hurt (and he will), GGG will butcher him.

Golovkin, I think, is going to suffer from the Tito Trinidad effect: absolute destroyer pound for pound, run into a pure boxer with height and be frustrated easily, then people will think he couldn't box at all, though both he and Tito are great fighters.

The one thing you never see these guys who hurt everybody do is learn to adapt when plan A doesn't work. Mosley and Tito both fell victim to this "what now?" mentality, as well as many lesser fighters, and I think GGG doesn't intrinsically have the versatility he seems to have right now because guys can't take his punch. His style is pretty basic and effective without having the sublime head movement and slipping instincts of, say, JCC, who also had power and a great chin. He gets hit way more than he should because he knows his bombs are more effective. A day will come when his conventional and somewhat predictable attacks won't land.

someone he can't land on who can keep the distance effectively and hit him to offset his pressure. Hopkins and Winky used to do it, though Hopkins mauled in close, too, but obviously not anymore. A guy who will never let GGG's offense get going.
Ward is the same type of fighter, but he grabs a lot, obviously.

Right now when he and his opponent both land, GGG just does way more damage.

sure but there is this asterisk next to his name that he really couldn't adapt at all ... much like Jones, if he retired at the right time, after beating Joppy (for Jones, Ruiz), he would be ranked much higher all time in head to head fantasy match ups. People would say, gee, tito would take Hagler.

IMO there won't be a fighter who can keep distance effectively, he's too good at cutting off the ring.

However, I think he can probably be smothered, Ward/Hopkins style. But, he'll probably never fight either of them.
