Yeah but that is two wins, is my point.

Even if you give them point values where Taylor is worth the full maximum 10 points, each time - Pavlik gets twenty points for the rivalry with Taylor. Be generous, call Rubio 7 and the rest of his best (Miranda, Zuniga, Bronco and Zertuche) a 6 each. That puts him at 51 points.

Golovkin, even if you whitewash all dozen names I posted above to give them a flat average rating of 7 (on par with Rubio, which I think is fair, as he is ON that list...some of the names, like Adama obviously, being worse, but some, like Geale and Murray, being a good deal better) you have 12x7 = 84 points.

Put together all the rest of Pavlik's and Golovkin's combined W columns and everything is garbage, not even worth assigning points. Pavlik has seven wins of note, two against the same guy...and while that guy slays every individual name on Golovkin's list, it doesn't change the maths here. Golovkin has a dozen notable wins, and most of them are better than all but one name on Pavlik's list.

Okay, but this is reductive argument if you want to say that because then we have to also downgrade McKart, Zertuche, Miranda and Zuniga to at least a half-grade below whatever you think Golovkin's opponents average. So if GGG's dozen best wins average C in your opinion, then you have to say all of Pavlik's best wins except Taylor average C- (and don't try pumping up Rubio, now, because then you have to give proportionate credit to Golovkin for having the same name, albeit older, but with a far more dominant and faster thrashing)

So now Pavlik has ONE name that's even remotely good, stacked against Golovkin beating middling guys, but a lot more of them in sum than Pavlik has. Pavlik's scalps aside from those I've mentioned are the sort truly deserving of the appellation "tomato can". (as, to be fair, are Golovkin's, and that includes the joke opponents he fought in his first two world title bouts, Nunez and whatsisface)

Nobody asked Floyd to do a damn thing, I'm pretty sure he is and was from the word dot a self-made man who fueled his own fire to be great.

...as for someone camping out in & cleaning out a division and still being hailed as great: Marvin Hagler.

Sure he beat much better guys than Golovkin but you play the hand you're dealt. That was a much stronger MW era.

I'm sorry but none of this points system business you're talking about makes any sense. I personally value quality over quantity. To this point, Bumlovkin has done nothing other than knock over TOMATO CAN after TOMATO CAN. Pavlik, OTOH, beat A list opposition once he was done knocking over TOMATO CAN after TOMATO CAN. Sorry but I don't see any reason why I should give the Triple Duck any consideration over Pavlik seeing as he's done nothing more than knock over a longer list of TOMATO CANs than KP has. Pavlik's losses came against A list opposition. The same level of opposition that Bumlovkin has flat out REFUSED to fight so far. So, again, we're right to where we started; exactly WHO has Bumlovkin beaten?

Ok, I'm fine with that. Pavlik still has the Taylor wins. Exactly WHO has Bumlovkin beaten?

Besides everything I pointed out above, it should also be noted that Pavlik had the gonads to MOVE UP and fight elite opposition. Bumlovkin, OTOH, is looking to fight his next jr middleweight...

It's really funny to read this and the argument that "GGG didn't deserver to fight Martinez" in the same thread.

Who is the equivalent of Taylor or Martinez that he COULD fight at middleweight right now? :think

Lack of depth isn't really his fault.

Hagler is my all time favorite. Golovkin will never get near him in the middleweight rankings. My point stands, though.

You're right, it isn't. But he could have had the Ward fight. Beating Ward would have shut up ALL of his detractors. However, we ALL know what's up with the Triple Duck whenever Ward's name is mentioned.
