i think Triple G will definitely stop him. i'm guessing round 6 or 7. Triple G may even go Hagler on him from the opening bell, but I expect a slightly more aggressive version of himself that faced Lemieux.
Canelo getting stopped early would be a shocker to most of us. I don't see it happening. Maybe a GGG stoppage after the 8th.
No way does this go the distance. Canelo is without a doubt getting stopped. I dont think too much will happen in the 1st couple of rounds but in the 3rd Golovkin will start to cut the ring off and get closer to Canelo and give him no space and by the end of the 3rd it will be starting to dawn on Canelo what all the other Boxers are scared of. After that it GGG will be be dictating most of everything.
GGG has a chance of stopping Canelo because of the difference in size and power here, and that's what his style is designed to do. But it will likely be a beatdown over a number of rounds, not an early one. I notice that all the people picking Canelo to outbox GGG overrate Canelo as a boxer, underrate GGG as one, and ignore the difference in power here. I expect GGG to make a statement in this fight.
I'll say this, Alvarez looks like a tank and like he can take a shot. Not going to be easy starching him.
Exactly this. Canelo is a fine boxer, I like his combinations and his speed. He's flashy and that's always pleasing to watch. But that's also what can make a guy overrate him as a boxer. Golovkin is not so much a boxer as a shark. He conserves his energy, always within attack range, and does the bare minimum defensively to avoid getting hit. He's not flashy, and he will, like a shark, test, test, test a fighter's defence and then take a big bite and see what happens. His skill at being the predator is overshadowed by his power. But GGG is not about the power. The power is incidental to his boxing skill and that is what makes him scary.
i would contend rather that his boxing skill and power are equal partners in defining his fights. his power usually has a substantial impact even before the 1st bell or does so soon afterwards. his boxing skill (and the power his opponent's know is coming with it) then enables him to dictate how the fight is fought. they are overwhelmed, and on the run.
Golovkin couldn't even take out a blown up Welterweight in two rounds and was hurt in the first round himself. If he wins by KO, it's going to be mid or late in the fight but I still see this fight going the distance. This is the first time Golovkin fights an actual challenge, so don't expect him to put on a show like he did against all the other overly matched fighters even in winning.
Canelo will win the first two to three rounds but he will tire and he will go to the ropes when hit,in my opinion fight gets stopped on the ropes like Brook
