Pac has not the punching power of these guys. Imagine GGG against Floyd, one body shot and he's down. He has more power than Mariusz Wach. Pac is not very hard hitting these days, his last KO was a long time ago.

Interesting thread. Some good posts in here.

i will say I disagree with the poster that said GGG fights like pacman. they couldn't be further apart in styles. I won't go through a list of differences, but Golovkin doesn't move, defend or throw punches in any way similar to the Pacman. Each one has their own strengths, but they're vastly different.

True, Pac isn't as powerful but there should be no reason why can't limit Floyd's movement. Floyd was in that corner MANY times.

your god loves you. My point is still valid. These guys don't have problems with runners. I was just pointing out B-Hop who was still a champion when Kovalev shut him out. Ask anybody who watched that fight what they saw. B-Hop could not "run" anywhere.

    :rofl shut the **** up.

Kovalev would have problems with toney and thats it.

Mccallum is a lmw/mw not a lhw gets KRUSHED.

jones would never step in the ring with Kovalev, but if he did - KRUSHED.

hOpkins at any age would get beaten. Closer fight but still he would get roughed up by the stronger, more powerful Sergey KRUSHER Kovalev. this aint pavlik, you dork.

I don't think Pac did so bad in terms of getting Floyd where we wanted. He had Floyd on the ropes plenty of times, it was keeping him there that was the problem. He kept letting Floyd simply escape to his left. What Pac should have done is fired a right hook, or have used his footwork to step to his right, to block Floyd's escape. Floyd would then have no choice but to move to his right, which would be in perfect range of Pacquiao's left.

GGG and Kovalev do have better pressure, but I do wonder how much of it has to do with their power and not their skill. Their opponents tend to cover up and get pretty scared when GGG and Kovalev have them on the ropes, which is why its hard for them to get away. But how much easier would it be if GGG and Kovalev didn't have such strong punching power? Without their punching, maybe their opponents wouldn't shell up as easily and would have more success in trying to get out of the ropes quickly.

For once you have a good point. I have to agree, PACs ring cutting ability and initiation was simply deficient.

Plenty of fighters in the past and present cut the ring properly, and initiate aggression effectively against moving targets. PAC was not able to, and clearly lost the fight. For 100mil USD he should have come better prepared, that's all there is to it.
