Elite fighters with no signature win. No win that really made you think "wow, they really are p4p #1". Someone has to step up soon.
I'm a fan of all these fighters, and although they may not have that signature win, Mikey, Crawford, and Loma are multiple weight champs who for the most part have outclassed their competition. Plus Mikey and Bud have been "The Man" in at least one division. That gives them a big boost in p4p status. GGG really shot himself in the foot by saying anybody from 154 to 168 and not doing it, and hanging out at 160 expecting big paydays that he is only now getting.
Loma was obviously the top dog at 126 and 130, and is working on his third division, but they never held a lineal title, which I'd like to think means something.
The lineal thing doesn't mean much of anything regarding GGG, Canelo and the middleweight division. Canelo is technically lineal middleweight champ but if you think his "middleweight" campaign of winning that title at a catch weight, 1 ****ing pound above light middle, against Cotto, who also won it at a catchweight (though to be fair only 1lb under the limit) against a broken Martinez who had only fought once in 2 years prior, and then defending it against a blown up welterweight in Khan again at a ****ing catch weight before being stripped to go hang about again at light middle.... gives him any more claim to being "the man" at middleweight over GGG than you are out of your mind. Canelo is the man who beat the man who beat the man at "middleweight" but he himself has never been "the man" there. It's GGG's division and it has been for a long time. The robbery draw against Canelo has done nothing to take that away from him. Also, in my opinion, lineal means nothing once the division has been unified the way Bud did at 140. Putting them belts together cements him as the king. If lineal means something, well than in Bud's case. The previous line is done and dusted and it starts again with him.
GRJ, Linares, Walters, Rigo? Not to mention KTFO the champs in his first fights at 130/135. Lomachenko not stepping up, that’s hilarious. You have an argument for Crawford, GGG and a strong argument for Garcia.
GGG's signature win is Canelo. Lomachenko's signature win so far is Linares. And Mikey Garcia's signature win so far is Broner.
