Let's be honest, even though I'm a big supporter of GGG, I think it's time to retire. As Stephan A would say, ''not tomorrow, not next week, TODAY!''

GGG shipping too many punches against a C level contender was not good viewing even though he provided us with a violent ko. Rolls stood right in front of him all night, may as well have been someone holding a moving punchbag in front of GGG around the ring for him to use as target practice

At 37 of age I can't see GGG beating Canelo for the third time.

I don't wish to see a retired GGG with speech and memory problems.

He has been inactive for a long time and changed trainers.

Come Sept, he'll be good to go.

I understand he was due to be rusty. However there is nothing that I saw which suggested his new camp are bringing anything new to the table. He's still fighting as if he's a young prime slugger

It seems his new team are advising him to use his head to block punches and not move his legs at all.

He seemed lacklustre but his opponent was Rolls so he likely took him about as seriously as Joshua took fat rolls Ruiz. We can't deny it will be a different mindset with Canelo.

If tonight genuinely represented the influence GGG's new trainer, he should get rid of him, but I'm not sure that's the story. His trainer seemed disappointed in the post-fight presser.

he does look slow no question, signature left from Golovkin and from southpaw stance which I thought was cute.
He's nothing to prove really as it should be blatantly obvious any younger version of GGG would of beat Canelo, let alone in his pomp.
Have to say I think Canelo wins a third fairly easy and I know I keep predicting Canelo knockouts and they never happen but he could even KO Golovkin.

Good point,we don't wanna see another Ali or Thomas Hearnes.I will say that he takes punishment from a certain range but it's still punishment.
Anyone notice him go southpaw for the knockout?

GGG is not done yet but the rematch with Canelo should not be carried out. He should move up in weight to 168.

Some of you guys are so fickle.

So he didn't look great in the first couple rounds. He arguably lost 1 round and people think it's the end of the world. He isn't in his prime anymore, but he's still one of the one of the best fighters in the division. He got hit with a couple clean shots and he should retire?

Should I remind people that Canelo looked like crap in the 2nd half of the Jacobs fight? He got tired out and he was getting hit. GGG still has the skills, the chin, the stamina and the power. He may lose a few early rounds to Canelo, but he'll start finding Canelo like usual.

There is no need for retirement. He's going to torment the young guys of the division until they give him a reason to retire. Tonight, he got a reason to keep going.

I think he looked small-ish compared to Rolls who looked better at the weight. I wouldn't advise a move to 168.

Rumors of GGG's demise are being greatly exaggerated.

He was disinterested, trying something new, didn't work out too well, so he threw it out the window, and went back to being Triple G in round 4 and promptly disconnected Steve Rolls from his senses.

He's fine, and he'll be fine for the Canelo rematch.

Jacobs came in at 178lbs. He was fighting a light heavyweight, which is what I explained when GGG had to fight him and went the distance for the first time in their encounter. That's before ignoring the fact that at the time, jacobs was avoiding VADA and pumping himself full for roids disguised as medication.

No one will look particular good against such foe. However it's Canelo is only getting better and better.

As much as it pains me to say, Canelo would outbox GGG and get a legit win if they are to fight for the third time. Like another poster suggested, GGG has nothing left to prove. He's proved he's one of the ATG's middleweights. He's broken bones, ruined careers and became one of the most feared men on the planet.

It's time for rest, he deserves it.

I wouldn't be so quick to call it a demise, since he is still very much capable, but rather age catching up with him and slowly him down.

He can by all means to continue to fight on and earn respectable wins from here, but really at what cost to his health when he isn't fighting smartly?

He's still got a few good matches left in him, and if this was just a Banks inspired anomaly, he'll be back to slipping punches effortlessly in the near future. Nothing to worry about yet.

GGG won 2-1 with a total brutal knockout in the 4th. I would hate to see him beat Canelo for the third time.
