A prime Martinez would have beat ggg too much speed and lateral movement pbf would have clowned him to he's too slow
How did Ali and Hagler look at 35? One was a shell of the fighter he once was and one was out boxing. Not that GGG is anywhere close to those fighters but maybe you need some perspective. He fought a bigger, taller, faster man who had great boxing skills and basically danced around the ring all night just looking to score. It was very effective but I don't think a lot of guys can pull it off so I don't think GGG needs to worry.
Triple G just fought and defeated the #1 contender in his division. A man who came in the ring 20lbs over the middle limit and was in is prime. Yet at almost 35 Triple G was able to turn back the challenge and yet ppl want to bash him after the first guy in 24 bouts made it to the final bell. What a joke. At 35 Ali was losing to 6-0 Leon Spinks. Hagler was retired after losing to a blown up Leonard who barely fought in 5 years after struggling with Mugabi who sure as heck didn't weigh 180 + on fight night. Stop with the knee jerk reactions to bash Triple G. Great fight tonight and a good win over a game opponent.
Well, GGG hurt Jacobs more, outlanded him, knocked him down, and outjabbed him, but if you take all THAT away, Danny clearly schooled the hell out of him.
I disagree regarding Martinez. He was solid but not great. Don't forget his cherry picking either. His best win is over a welter/super welter in Paul Williams. He beat Pavlik, but that wasn't the Pavlik that whooped Taylor. It was the Pavlik that had just got whooped by Hopkins. Martinez also fought Dzinziruk, Barker, and Macklin, when a guy named Dmitri Pirog was available to fight. Golovkin would have KO'd Martinez. Floyd, Floyd may have been able to pity pat Golovkin for 12 rounds, at 154.
I keep hearing all this Jacobs is 20 pounds over the limit. What were the in ring weights for the fight?
I had Golovkin losing tonights fight but he will murder Canelo. Style make fight and Canelo is stylistically made for him.
Jacobs refused to be weighed on fight day. Because he did the Ibf removed their belt from being on the line tonight. They have a clause that stipulates a fighter must be within 10 lbs of the division limit on day of fight. So that means he was a minimum of 170 on the morning. Going by eye test and from what I read on other sites he was at LEAST 180 by fight time
Not significantly hurting your opponent does not necessarily mean you didn't win a fight. Golovkin did not win more than 4 rounds in that fight and that's being generous and you guys know it.
I don't care if jacobs was out weighing ggg by 20 pounds loma was outweighed and even though he lost he gave a much better showing than ggg did against a better fighter
