Golovkin is very focussed on his career but you might be right the birth of his daughter is another reason
I think he will be back in april or may(Canelo rematch) of 2018.

Taking a fight prior to the Canelo rematch would be one of the stupidest moves EVER. Boxers fight for the money. Why would a fighter take a "tune-up" and possibly lose it, forfeiting the biggest payday of his life?

The only fight beside the Canelo rematch that makes sence is a fight with Saunders for all the MW belts.
He already made a lot of money in the first Canelo fight.

If I were his manager, I would veto that move.

The guy is almost 36 years old. **** it, man.

At this point it's about getting paid for him. Nobody has the time/ability/desire to be writing legacies this late in the game.

The Canelo fight made him set for life. Yea Oscar ****ed him in the ass about as hard as humanly possible. First GGG became mandatory. Then he made him wait for years to address his mandatory status. Then when Oscar was given his option he forced Canelo to vacate the belt. Then they wait a few more years for GGG to be past prime. Then they finally make the fight. GGG wins the fight except Oscar has paid off the judges and GGG is awarded a draw. So he pretty much got the raw end of the deal there.

But he got paid and the guy put in his work. He earned it. From all the amateur toiling. The work over in Germany. The non stop action he gave us when he first came to America. The activity to fight 4 times a year, etc. Lots of work was put in by GGG. He wasn't just handed cash relatively easy like Canelo was.

Completely agree with this assessment. Life is not fair but my god The Cinnamon Boy sure has been handed a nice deck. Right place, right time, right fan base.

At the same time I can't really blame Canelo either. I don't hate the guy. I'm sure not a fan of him or his boxing. And I think Oscar may have more to do with Canelo's cowardly belt vacate. But like you say, his deck is his deck. It's not like he asked for it.

3G never needs to fight. Fights need 3G.
