Crawford has already semi-stepped up by moving through 3 weight divisions. He lets it be known who he wants at 147 while Golovkin makes it be known who he doesn't want.

Moving up in weight and chasing Spence >>> Staying put and avoiding Callum Smith.

He has stepped up at age age 33, he fought his first titleholder, Lemmy, dont be silly. And he won! by KO! And it was a unifier (albeit unifying title that he had been given rather than won).

He has fought an elite too!

Two very good fights with Canelo but he needs to "step it up".

Now I'm all for Golovkin Vs Smith, I like it a lot, should be easy to make and style wise should be a very good fight.

But when Canelo is fighting Rocky Fielding after fighting Golovkin I don't really think you can come at Golovkin like that if you are not coming after Canelo too.

Canelo stepped up twice when he fought Golovkin so he earned the Feilding fight. Golovkin has never stepped up against anybody and has outright avoided decent MW contenders.. His entire career is based on chasing bums and guys from lower weight divisions.

If he moved up and fought Feilding he'd get all the credit in world since it would be for the SMW version of the belt that accounts for half of his title defenses.

fielding is just a warm up fight for Canelos new division, we should give him credit for fighting a contender as a warmup. Obv noone in their right mind thinks RockyF has an actual title.

Well once again it all changes, I was being told by Canelo fans it was Golovkin the one stepping up when the fight was very first being seriously talked about.

What 160 fighters did Golovkin avoid? Who? He fought Jacobs, Canelo twice, Lemieux who, else was there at 160?

Fielding isn't good, don't pretend it's a decent opponent, Callum Smith spanked him inside a round, I believe Ryder beat Fielding and so did Rebrasse.

Callum Smith is the fight Canelo should have gone after, he is the one coming off the back of victory.

GGG needs a couple of average fights and cash out his career by boiling down to 154 and fighting Mayweather IMO.

The Fielding fight isn't as bad as its made out to be. Not great , but not terrible either.

Size matters and Rocky towers over Canelo. You see it with Spence vs Garcia , its not the skill disparity that a problem for Mikey , its the size.
Its a decent enough fight simply because Canelo is moving up to a division he has no business being in to fight a guy way bigger than him. If Rocky was a 160lber than it would be a different story.

Canelo should fight Smith?? Why doesn't Golovkin fight Smith?? He's already got on offer for that fight on Sky PPV.

Canelo just moved up /stepped up and fought Golovkin twice. Now its Golovkins turn to do the same , not Canelo's.

mhua theres better ways to get an ATG on your resume than using a 43 year old one. 3G is a much better man than that.

How can he step up? Only option he has is to go to a different weightclass and fight Smith or someone simular... and then we actually don't know if that's actually a step up as it's kind of a weak division.

Hahaha "why doesn't Golovkin fight Smith"

I've already said I'd love to see that fight but don't be so childish, Canelo was the winner, he should be moving on to the better opponents.

You all bigger up Canelo, he got two decisions, questionable decisions, I'm not starting all that but they were debatable.

But nevertheless Canelo came out the winner, so he should be moving on to better things than Golovkin immediately afterwards.

Canelo hasn't been forced to step up to 168, it's a choice, it's his own choice, so don't pretend like it's Canelo doing the boxing world a favour.

If you step up in Canelos position then you fight the best available, you don't pick the weakest regular champion and pretend it's a tough fight, it's not, it's a joke.

Even Hearn has basically said Fielding is cashing out, getting that big payday.

If Golovkin stepped up to 168 and fought Fielding he would have been slaughtered, you know it, I know it, we all know it, the same question would have been asked "why hasn't he fought Smith".

No , he wouldn't have been slaughtered at all. His fanbase barely criticized him for fighting two year inactive coming off losses Vanes Martirosyan ffs.

He gets credited for matching Hops record for holding the same belt Rocky Fielding has. If GGG was to fight Rocky , it would be for the exact same belt he made most of his defenses against so he definitely would not get the same amount of stick for that fight that Canelo is getting.
In fact there's bearly any difference between Rocky and Murata/Brant. The weight jump evens it out.
How many do you see slaughterer GGG for for wanting to fight WBA regular Murta/Brant? Those fights were argued for and encouraged over the likes of Charlo.

I never said Canelo is doing the boxing world a favor by fighting Rocky Fielding. He just had two hard fights with Golovkin back to back so he earned the right to take gimmie fight.
He has another 7 fights left in his contract so there will be better fights to come against the best available.
He already fought the best available TWICE and is doing what every champion is history has done by taking a follow up fight against some contender.
Golovkin isn't exempt from stepping up and taking on challenges but his always an argument with his fanboys why he should. Case in point this thread.

the Fielding fight is completely terrible. Blasted out by Smith in a round, needed a robbery against Ryder and Rebrasse. Stopping Brophy & Zeuge isn't evidence that this is anything other than a poor fight for Canelo.
