TS must be Brit, the fact he's so obsessed by which fighters Americans "aknowledge" or not is telling. Inferiority complex that is.

GGG is the truth whether they believe it or not.

 

There is a very obvious air of desperation among US fans these days.
They are desperate for some success, particularly in the "premier" weight classes, like middleweight.
That's why they stampeded to overrate the very ordinary Peter Quillin.
Hopefully Danny Jacobs will do something for them next year.

 

@nonito smoak: it's because he hasn't faced Martinez that I'm saying unofficial. Ability is not my opinion of a fighter.... But we don't need to get into an argument of terminology. If you don't want to say unofficial king that's fine. Golovkin is the best middleweight around, if you think he beats Martinez, that he's a better fighter now, you're basically agreeing with my point without acknowledging it.

You have to judge fighters on both ability and accomplishments, in this specific case the accomplishments for GGG are practically a formality. His ability is undeniable.

 

GGG is fighting the guys that are willing (not scared) to fight him. Eventually (I hope its next year) 3G will grab that WBC title from Sergio and be the crowned MW king. Then he'd have more drawing power and he could demand bigger fights with Canelo, Cotto and maybe Ward @ catchweight, etc.

GGG was on nobodies radar UNTIL he hooked up with HBO

his profile went through the roof with HBO's backing, and now he's in a good spot and WILL get his important fights

previously, geale was already fighting sturm, then fought mundine for big $$$ in Australia, while Martinez has been plagued with injury

With Macklin dismissed, the question now is who will fight Golovkin, who has said often that he will fight anyone from junior middleweight to super middleweight.

Martinez is out until at least the spring because of injuries, so that isn't happening. DiBella, who also promotes Martinez, said he had no interest in the fight even if Martinez was healthy and ready to go.

How about N'Dam ducked him twice? N'Dam had no issues defending away against Quillin.

Geale gave up his WBA belt to fight Mundine, but the Mundine was always on the table. If he thought he could beat Golovkin (he lost to him badly in the ams), he would have retained his WBA belt then fought Mundine for big $$$.

 

if geale only had one belt, it would have pushed him into a corner. but he didn't
its no surprise he took the $$$ fight after beating sturm and Sylvester in Germany, before trying to make an impression in the US

I didn't say I thought geale could beat GGG, but if you're holding the cards and you get a money ticket fight, you take it before trying to crack the big time for much less $$$

GGG would crush Martinez at this stage. Sergio's been an awesome fighter and that would be a horrible thing to see

if GGG hit the US earlier (I don't know his history so I don't know why it took him so long), he could easily have bypassed a serial paper champ like sturm and been a player on a bigger stage
