Recently GGG has decided to no longer speak in English during interviews. Up until recent months, GGG would always try to answer questions from reporters in english, he became synonymous with statements like "this is boxing" and trying to answer question in english. In contrast, more recently he has decided to use a translator to respond to questions in his native language. Sometimes you also see his translator having to translate the questions to him so that he understands what's being asked. He has been quoted recently as making some disparaging statements about Canelo. (particularly that Canelo is a "dirty" fighter) Reading the full context of the quote, I would like to know if that was translated improperly from his native language to english, as he appeared to be talking about how difficult it is to fight Canelo in the ring.
He's not the smiling, approachable GGG he normally is. The pressure is on, he froze in the first fight and knows he can't afford to lose against what we all know is a clean Canelo. He's feeling the pressure.
If that's Golovkin "freezing" then I'd hate to see what he does to Canelo when he warms up. It will be a massacre!
I think it's becoming clear that Canelo is better at understanding english spoken to him than Golovkin is. Canelo did a recent interview where although he responded in español, he didn't need a translator to tell him what the questions he was being asked in english were. With Golovkin, his new translator has to translate what he is asked in english into Golovkin's native language. So this has established that Canelo understands spoken english better than Golovkin does.
I think a part of it is he’s got more to say due to the canelo saga and isn’t confident in his English.
for a highly publicized bout like this, I'd probably want a translator too. Say one stupid thing, especially a non-pc one in this environment, and you will get branded for life.
Yet still does not bother to speak it at all while GGG has at least attempted to do so. Just shows Clenelo's arrogance really.
