my point is, if ggg or canelo take him up on the offer he WILL move up to 160....at 154 he's the champ and he's calling the shots. but more to the point, he's in a position to take advantage of a fmj move north if floyd decides to go that route....at 154 he's hedging his ability to fight any of the three top guys he wants.

As I said before, it's more HBO that's not wanting the fight than GGG or his team. That's the main obstacle. Sorry but whatever power Lara thinks he possesses, or wants to possess, is non-existent. And we can't be sure he will go up to 160, regardless if the offer is accepted or not. In the video, he seemed pretty adamant on staying at 154. There's not very many options for him at 154 anymore. He's fought the main guys. Andrade we discussed, who still pretty unproven at this point. Charlo brothers, they're not there yet. For him being the champ as you say, who's left for him that's a worthy opponent, that he has a possibility of fighting?

    a few things about lara.

    - beat paul williams handily when williams was still a top mw.
    - beat canelo handily and canelo is recognized as a top 10 pfp guy.
    - beat austin trout handily and trout arguably beat canelo.
    - destroyed angulo one of the biggest punchers around.
    - toyed with ishe smith a former champ still near his prime.
lara has one of the most impressive resumes against YOUNG, STRONG, UPCOMING, RECOGNIZED CONSTENDERS AND CHAMPS!....we're not talking adama or geale or murray or any of them other BUMS!

it's really ggg who should be moving down to 154 to challenge lara!

but lara is willing to move up to fight ggg at ggg's weight class....a HELL of a lot more than ggg is willing to do against andre ward.

Your peoples ain't sht , 90% of gold medalists are white. Black boxers are the best today?? Floyd and rigo that's all you got , so stfu and worry about your peoples IQ and income being the lowest, your peoples leading the world in children growing in single mom households, crime and poverty. Your peoples are on the bottom and that's not racism , that's a fact.

well, if hbo is the obstacle, that puts an end to any speculation... but pac fights for hbo and floyd fights for showtime and they made it happen...

to me it's inconceivable lara would challenge ggg and NOT consider making the fight at 160 or geting around his network contract... i didn't see the interview, but it only makes logical sense. he has nothing to gain from making empty challenges.

he would probably PREFER to stay at 154...i'm sure he would OFFER to make the fight at 154. but when it came down to it, he doesn't have a big fan base and, as you pointed out, his options are limited at 154. going to 160 seems intuitive to fight cotto or ggg.

I want Floyd for my next fight,” said Lara, 31, of Mayweather, who promotes Smith and was in attendance. “He’s the best pound-for-pound, and I want to find the best.”

Lara is the best JMW but Mayweather fights Maidana instead.

    Why oh why

You can't compare Lara/GGG to Floyd/Pac. The amount of money the fight is more than likely going to generate is huge. It would be insane not to make that fight. Other than that fight, there is many other HBO/SHO mergers because nothing money-wise is making them move to make fights. I don't want it to seem like I don't want this fight to happen because I do. I'm just realistic when it comes to the barriers and the difficulty there might be in making it. And yeah I would hope it's not an empty challenge because Lara doesn't seem like that type of guy. And yes he's fought pretty much the who's who of the division minus a couple, but moving up to fight some like GGG is another level, whether you or a few others think so or not. It would be a very tall order for Lara in that fight. I'm just not sure what Lara's end game is regarding all of this.

know what? ...i'm not even gonna dignify that with an answer.

f your answer to why ggg refuses to take on any kind of top caliber opponent is to attack floyd mayweather, the greatest, most accomplished fighter of his generation, well knock yourself out.

    cheers! :good

    wille "the worm" monroe jr?...wtf!

his end game is clearly to beat all those guys and establish himself as the best, the star and make big money and win glory for himself....is that hard to figure out?

given ggg's performances aganist ouma, murray and stevens, i'm sure lara strongly believes he can beat ggg. i think he can too...they probably know each other from the amateurs. i don't think lara is the least bit intimidated or in awe of ggg...lara has the same pedigree....he just doesn't have the same fan base and publicity machine hyping him up like hbo does with ggg.

I hear you man but keep in mind, there will always be excuses and reasons to not fight somebody. Always.

The fact they wont even entertain the idea of fighting lara is crazy, imo. This guy is rated higher p4p, has done more and is more known then munroe.

Whether lara critics (which i am one) like it or not, having a big highlight reel KO over Lara would be a lot bigger then over Munroe.

it better be. even if golovkin deserves a gimme defense, that one is undefendable.

He would be at that stage already since he's got the resume. Sadly, he's not. He's in a compromising position. And those performances don't prove anything. You're reaching really far if people are looking towards those fights and deciding they want to test getting in there with him. Ouma hasn't been the same since. Murray, well we've yet to see him. He wins one round, has some limited success and people praise his performance as a knock on GGG? And Stevens had a couple moments as well, losing every round, and again, you're pointing that fight out as a reason why Golovkin is severely flawed? So be it. And I'm sure GGG feels he can beat Lara because Angulo knocked him on his ass twice. Lara still won but do you see how ridiculous it sounds when it's thrown back? I'm over this debate is we aren't going anywhere with it. Glad it was relatively cordial though.
