I think he was. If he was comfy at 168 he wouldn't of come back to fight Paul Smith at 172. He would of made his comeback at 168 besides he still had the WBA SMW strap belt. That's the indicator right there that he couldn't/wouldn't want to do 168 anymore. Also the day after the Barrera weigh in he was 185 IBF day after weight. So he gained 10 pounds off a 175 weigh in. Olive Garden baby!:yep

first off...people who make money(like ward and myself) dont eat a trashy, garbage, chain restaurants where they microwave pre-made packaged meals...lol...we have class and go to real restaurants where the ingredients are fresh and someone actually cares about your meal because their reputation and financial well being are tied to it

second...how many times are people gonna play the 'i dont think ward coulda made 168 anyway' card as an excuse??

has ward ever done anything to lead you to believe that when he said something he couldnt do it? has he ever said he could make a weight and failed? no he hasnt....if ward says "ggg lets fight at 168" then i damn well believe ward will get there......to suggest otherwise is just plain ignorant

if anything...fighting at 172 in august of 2015 suggested that he was trying to keep his body close to 168 in case ggg grew a set of testicles and wanted to make a fight with him....ward was also eyeing what hes doing now...going up to lhw and chasing kovalev....but in the event that he contacted ggg in august/september and ggg was going go for it...he actually had kept his body closer to 168 without fully going to 175 and changing things completely

like i said....if ward said hed be there...you best believe he would have made that 168...just another typical excuse making attempt for a fighter that has no legacy and no will to challenge himself....keep patting ggg on the back for taking the easy route over and over tho!

 

ward fought smith in the summer of 2015.....he reached out to k2 around sept/oct(whenever it was that they were just about to sign the lemieux fight...prob a few weeks before...of course u know ward had no knowledge of that fight being made at the time

if u notice ward went to 172....not 168 or 175...although we know he was leaning towards 175 with his eyes set on that division and kova....but if ggg had taken the bait then he would have still been close to 168 and not moving his body towards full fledged 175

so anyway...ward reaches out in september or whatever....they could have made that fight for march or april of this year......i believe ward would have been open to that....and could have kept himself near 168....to make that fight....ward fought a few weeks ago and ggg fighting soon....would have been perfect

 

if no one in his divison will fight him...how about the top guy at 154??? why wont he call lara? why isnt he open to fighting lara?

dont give me dumb excuses like "hed kill lara easily'...or "why doesnt lara reach out"...or "whats lara done to deserve a shot"...because youve already complained no one will fight him and we know ggg selects opponents and makes the calls....and we know lara has called him out...even austin trout said ggg wont fight lara

the problem with ggg fighting a champ at 168 now is that he ducked the best 168 fighter, maybe ever, already........the problem with ggg fighting bum mandos is it seems to be an unbreakable pattern...seems to be all were getting with him...at least ward has some things on his resume.....

like ive said for awhile...the biggest problem with ggg is this....his fanboys have killed tons of other fighters for not taking challenges...for not fighting for the fans and legacy....and heres this guy with everyone claiming "all these guys in his division wont fight him....everyone is ducking him"....yet the guy wont go out of his way to make something happen......if ggg is truly great hell make a move...a jump...a splash......and take on a challenge to prove something....but hes content sitting there hoping something falls into his lap.....more accomplished fighters have had their names dragged thru the mud here for less

 

Presumably you're talking about Floyd. Firstly, it's something of an assumption to think GGG fans are all Floyd haters. I was called a Floydette on here the other day.
But the main, absolutely clear, difference is that Floyd had his pick. He decided who he fought. People put their ****ing careers on hold in the hope of getting that cash. Canelo is similar, to a lesser degree.

How is trying to make a fight with Zurdo worse than Lara? The issue here is that Lara has done absolutely nothing to convince me he actually wants the fight. I put zero credence into stuff said on twitter. Beating up Delvin Rodriguez and Jan Zaveck is not the actions of a man looking to fight the MW champ.

Criticising GGG for seeking Zurdo is insane. It's only recently become absolutely clear that there's no chance of getting the other MW beltholders anytime soon. He wouldn't consider SMW if that wasn't the case. But it is, undeniably. So enquiries about Ramirez are made. A much bigger man, Mexican with everything that brings, young, prime, title fight, no catchweight. The **** is wrong with that?

 

The SOG ducking **** has been going on since early 2014, at the very least. Since then Ward has had two fights, against bums, both at LHW. It was never on the cards. There was no duck, from either side.

 

first off.... i think you are being close minded if you are assuming im just talking about floyd in that instance

the issue with the zurdo fight is that you just turned down a chance to fight a great 168 fighter....you literally didnt even give it a chance....ward said hed be there if you wanted it and he just ducked it.....dont tell me about how he had lemieux fight set up.....they could have set it up for march/april of this year......they could have tried to work something out...it was clear that ggg wanted no part of it........

the issue with zurdo is this....ggg fans claimed that he was only talking 168 for big fights/events...like froch or chavez.....ok....i heard you.......now zurdo? he aint a big fight....theres no way yer gonna convince me thats a big fight man...so dont even try.......hed have made more fighting ward thats for sure.....

when looking at lara...look....ggg selects his opponents...its up to him to call lara.....lara is the top guy in his own division....lara has been on premium network/cable ........lara is prob looking at staying at 154 unless he can land a ggg fight(similar to ggg saying hes 160 unless he can land a big 168 fight)......well ggg would be a big fight for lara....maybe not huge financially....but the reward of beating ggg is worth it for him....because a guy like lara is looking for the spoils and claim of greatness by knocking ggg off as much as hes looking for money=something ggg wasnt up to when ward came calling
