Bumlovkin's defense is Shi'ite and his offence is slightly above average. Without the punching power, he's at best a typical fighter...

No. Robinson started his professional career @ LIGHTWEIGHT and carried his power up to middleweight. How many weightclasses has Bumlovkin competed in as a professional?

You have a point about speed, strength and athleticism as today's athletes have certainly benefited from modern sports science. However, you are WAY off in the boxing knowledge department. I would argue that the boxing skillset of modern fighters has REGRESSED since Robinson's day. Have you had a good look at the HW division lately? Those guys ALL SUCK. Most of them have NO clue about what a JAB actually is or how to properly use it...

So you agree with Barcham, and think that someone like Golovkin is faster and more athletic than Ray Robinson?

This is also the reason why those guys fought on a higher level than contemporary prize fighters, IMO. They had to fight for less money and do so more often against other highly skilled fighters...

Also, boxing was a more popular sport back in the day and got better athletes. Boxing gyms used to be all over the place. Now you are lucky if there are a couple of good ones in your city.

There are NO boxing gyms whatsoever on the South side of Chicago. NONE. A travesty, IMO...
