I think his team are doing OK so far. Raised his profile with all the hype, this is important. The more his profile is raised, the more other guys will want to fight him, the more money he'll be able to make and the more money he'll be able to offer to make the big fights happen.

To be fair he isn't a big superstar yet and is very dangerous. Ppl won't be going out of therebway to fight him.

HBO need to put the money up for a Sergio Martinez fight.

GGG seems happy just been some guy with a belt, don't think he wants to step up.

This thread is insane. He went from being an unknown in the U.S. 15 months ago to pulling in higher ratings than Andre Ward.

All Golovkin needs to do is what he's been doing, which is fighting often and knocking out whoever's got the balls to fight him.

GGG would still be fighting on undercards if he didn't already change his team.

He has grown in popularity but his team has failed him to some degree by not being able to negotiate a decent fight.
Look at the less deserving fighters who get big fights
    Rios got Pac
    Alvarez got Floyd
Groves got Froch( he did show he deserved it)
    Stevenson got Dawson(also deserved)
I am sure there are more examples I can't think of.
Point is top level guys fight b level fighters all the time who have less reputation than GGG.

Golovkin is fighting on HBO and is being promised that he will eventually get to fight the other champions. Martinez is Golovkin's goal, but he would love to fight Quillin and Barker.

GGG shows what's wrong with US fight fans. It doesn't matter if you're a great boxer, it is incredibly hard to make real money in the US unless you have a US passport or you're a latino and can generate fans that way.

The 'mecca of boxing' is shooting itself in the foot.

In this case, it's not even having fewer fans, it's just shortchanging the foreign guys. GGG brings in better ratings than Ward now and Stevenson and Kovalev are on par ratings-wise, but far from it for compensation.

That also means, of course, that HBO loves showing them fight. Absolutely loves it. Getting knockout punchers for half the price that deliver the same (if not better) ratings as the "blue chip", home grown, U.S. stars that want a price tag to match? From a business perspective, they'll take that every friggin' day. If they can get two or three GGG fights for the price of one Ward fight and each Golovkin fight brings in more fans, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see who they want to fight 4 times a year.
