Throw into the mix he was blitzed in less than a minute in his very next fight at his proper weight and it's doesn't bode well as some stand out victory for Ward.

 

If by 'doing everything in your power to not make a fight' and 'at all costs' you mean saying 'no thanks' to the singular offer that was made then I suppose you have a point. As much as I would have liked to see a GGG - Ward fight it was clear Golovkin was not really interested at that point, and why would he be? More money and a much easier fight with either Cotto or Canelo seemed to be just round the corner. To be blunt he'd have to be as dumb as a bag of rocks to sign for a Ward fight in that situation, however things seem with the benefit of hindsight.
