Neither fighter is American, but Conners fan base over at the UFC is the same fanbase that likes GGG but they won't buy his fights.
People use the excuse of him not having an ethnic group to rally him but there is enough guys of his ethnicity to defend him on this board.

Connor is from Ireland right? So are there 1 million pure Irish people buying his fight or is it because he knows how to sell himself?

Quit the excuses, nobody is ducking him and no one owes him a living in America. He is no Ronda Rousey so he is going to have to work for it.

there is a big difference in the charisma of the two

mcgregor also had the luck of fighting the pound of pound champ

GGG has the other world champs at his weight running

Who was McGregor fighting? In order to sell PPV in the USA you need one opponent to be either American or belonging to a major US ethnic group. Otherwise you risk massive flops.

Lewis (UK) vs. Tua (NZ) in the USA only did about 400k PPV for example although for boxing purists this was a dream matchup. Other fights of Lewis such vs. Mavrovich (Serbia) or Botha (South Africa) didn't even make it to PPV.

Canelo offered Little g a legitimate fight. K2 refused it.

It took a real boxer like Amir Khan to expose the error of Golovkin's trifling under-achieving ways, and now they are regretting not taking Canelo's fight offer. :yep

"About 33.3 million Americans—10.5% of the total population—reported Irish ancestry in the 2013 American Community Survey conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau.[1]"

McGregor isn't the best example you could come up with.

    1. McGregor is irish. 32 million American claim irish heritage, McGregor is also loud ,crasmatic and one of the greatest self promoters in sport.

    2. golovkin is from Kazakhstan. there is probably a couple of thousand kazakhs at most in America. golovkin is quiet and respectful

always amazes me how many americans claim irish ancestry compared to the ammount of americans who claim english anscestory.

yet i look at places names in america and they are all engish towns and cities they are named after compared to irish towns and villages.

In order for Golovkin to sell PPV in the USA, he needs either a latino or an American. He can't sell boxing Canadians or Europeans in the US. That's just how it is.

Mc Gragor never stops trolling people and opponents, while GGG is quietly confident. Also Mc Gregor is more supported by the MMA hype machine.

    Op, don't hate, appreciate.

I've never met a single American who EVER said they have British ancestors. Always Italian, French, Swedish, German, Italian. Is there something wrong with admitting one has Englishmen in your hereditary line?

Thats what I said about Ward and everybody said , "At least GGG had a PPV".
True but his PPV got people fired. When was the last time HBO gave anybody a PPV that was not fighting another top opponent?....I will tell you NEVER!!!!!!!!

GGG is the first fighter that I have ever seen get a PPV and people say it failed because he had no fanbase. WTF!!:|

WELL HOW DID HE GET THE PPV? HBO BELIEVED SOMETHING RIGHT?

if you think about it it makes perfect sense, most of the places named were before the war of independence, I guess during and after the war of independence it wasn't very cool to be seen as part british or have british heritage so id say families didn't really agknowledge that part of there heritage. while for some reason being irish is seen as good and americans love the irish for some reason
