Some people are so obsessed. Just let it go already. Ward and Kovalev are 2 divisions above. Both Ward and Kovalev have to cut weight to make 175.
Gennady & Sergey the #1 P4P are good friends Gennady is there for support & because he also loves the sport
lol...rightttttttt....thats why ward made 171 a little over a year ago..... and sanchez ran his mouth saying his guy can beat anyone at 175
maybe gennady just wants to get close to bernard hopkins? we know gennady must marvel at those grapefruits.....
Why would Ward or Kovalev want to fight him? Why would we want them to? They both fight 15 lbs north of Golovkin.
I agree withTommyg6. Seeing, or better- attending, fights is made more fun and interesting by seeing the boxers who attend. Without attempting to sound serious here- it's good for the sport. Both GGG and Kovalev are common attendees. Good for them and us.
Sanchez is an idiot. He need to shut his mouth. As for Ward, here's what he said: "Even though I am moving up a weight class, I am still really scaling down to make 175lbs," Ward said. "I am not not adding on extra weight and I am still losing weight to get to 175." Straight from the horse's mouth. He's a natural 175 lb fighter at this point in his career.
For the same reason a lot of people would tune in for Mayweather-Golovkin. Floyd has been so far above everyone at 147, that even though he's recently retired, a tough dude 2 divisions north is considered someone who might pose a real threat to him. The same can be said for Golovkin with regards to the relatively weak state of affairs at 160. GGG is head and shoulders above the rest there, and most people don't see any real challenges for him at 160 - so looking 2 divisions north to 175 - guys like Ward and Kovalev would present such a challenge. The fight between GGG and Ward and/or Kovalev will almost certainly never happen. Especially when you consider the fact that Golovkin was most recently seen picking on a little fella 2 divisions south of him. But all the same, it's pretty simple for me to understand why people would want to see GGG face guys north of him, given the fact he has no true worthwhile challenges at 160.
paul smith fight....a year ago...he came in at 171.8 for the paul smith fight.....a year ago is when ward was contacting k2 about a 168 fight....he let smith come in at 176 even though it was supposed to be a 175lb fight......yes...now ward has decided 168 wont happen again and is full fledged 175 mode....a year ago, when he thought a ggg fight at 168 could be possible, he was keeping himself half way between both classes
