I suspect in fight vs Artur because he after this fight did not had pro boxing fights. Boxing is not easy game and life is what it is. Otherwise I do not see reason why he does not fight after fight vs Artur.
Maybe you are right about Gvozdyk's decline. Artur has the curious flaw that he is a very slow starter (knocked down by...Jeff Page?) - but I was not too surprised how it ended and did not see any obvious evidence that Gvozdyk is sliding. Many top LWHs have not been active in the last year. Or, to be more specific - the LWHs that the sanctioning bodies gives the top rankings to ...have been inactive in the last year.
I'm not sure but 2 things made me suspicious: he get impressive blows from Artur in 18 Oct 2019. Maybe I'm not correct but I do not have info that Gvozdyk had any fight scheduled when covid crisis started, this is march 2020. Boxing orgs when covid period started in march 2020 are more lenient regards to inactivity period for boxer. Before covid time they most likely had removed from rankings boxers inactive 12 or 18 months as usually. It is difficult to travel and get fight events, no one knows what kind of restrictions country A, B or C might enforce next day. All they are battling with covid crisis and different restrictions might be and had been imposed to battle with covid spread. Bad times for boxing.
All seem reasonable - but here's what I think: I think Eubank Jr has spent an awful long time at SMW (4 years?) to go back down to 160 lbs now. And I don't think there is all that much interest in GGG outside of N. America any longer. I think that if Liam Williams beats Andrade, his profile will be raised and then maybe Eubank Jr fights Williams at 168 lbs (which the latter has said he is willing to do). I think Charlo's management wants to see GGG having one more difficult evening before they risk their fighter. GGG is not Korobov in style but it's not like Charlo doesn't give you stuff to work with. Munguia is probably the best fight. Unlike Charlo, I'm dead sure JM wants it. It's a reasonably-marketable fight in the Western Hemisphere. I don't think GB has made a huge investment in JM like some other fighters, so it's not the end of the world if GGG stops him - which raises the interest in an eventual 3rd Canelo fight, anyhow.
Agreed. Kell fought a lot more manfully did Danny Jacobs did - even if Kell's corner had to throw in the towel. He paid for it, yes, but the looks he got from GGG when he was landing those uppercuts was at least some compensation. And yes, aged 39, ffs...
I have nothing but respect for Kell. Hate the fact that his career was derailed, but the man has massive courage.
