GGG v Canelo is a 50/50 fight

I've seen various posts on here & various polls on social media about the GGG Canelo fight which is obvious as it's the biggest fight in boxing.
What surprised me is the results that come back. I expected maybe a slight advantage to GGG but I've seen polls where it's 75%+ think GGG will win!

Obviously everyone is entitled to an opinion and it's interesting reading the various predictions for the fight. Here's why I think this is a 50/50 fight:

Canelo is a great counter puncher. Canelo has a very slick and effective defence which he will need to be using v GGG. Whether you love or hate GGG, it's very easy to hit Golovkin.. The issue is hurting him. Canelo can't KO GGG in my opinion, but depending on how well he can counter GGG could see him win a few rounds.

But, GGG is a very good pressure fighter with hands & chin made out of metal! I've not seen Canelo get hit clean by anyone who hits like GGG, so how will he take the shots? Clearly some chins can take the shots as Kell Brook and Daniel Jacobs seemed to react well AFTER initial scares (Brook almost went down in Rd1 and Jacobs went down in the GGG fight).

If Canelo can take the power of GGG, he has the ability to outbox GGG in my opinion and I see him winning on points. But this is a big if and I won't be surprised if GGG can KO Canelo.

I feel like a lot of people are using their feelings towards how Canelo has delayed this fight, to predict the fight outcome. Right now, GGG or Canelo are not miles better than eachother in my opinion

I agree with what you are saying.

Sometimes polls can be deceptive though, due to:
    - quite a few people may have GGG as a slight favourite and vote that way, even though they think Canelo has a 45% chance of winning for example.
    - alts, it must be said ....

I've always been of the belief that the fight is 45/55 in favor of GGG. Canelo might be pampered but he has been adjusted wisely by GB.

I would not be shocked to see it go to the final bell or as most expect a very late TKO from GGG

GGG has slight advantages but overall it is a 50-50 fight or probably more a 55-45 fight in favor of GGG.

GGG is the clear favourite. In his only other big fight, Canelo looked terrible against light punching mayweather.

Oddsmakers see GGG as clear favorite. Not 50/50.

It's pretty close though, GGG 4/7, Canelo 11/8 and Draw 20/1 which equates to the following probabilities:
    GGG: 63.6%
    Canelo: 42.1%
    Draw: 4.8%

Bookies making a killing with this fight, the margin is 10.5% lol.

I respectfully disagree. Canelo fought his way up from nothing and became who he is for his dedication, discipline, and willingness to always fight the best.

With that said, I would make Canelo the slight favorite. Golovkin's best weapon against Canelo are his power, and fighting at MW a lot longer than Canelo.

Well Mayweather stood right in front of him and Canelo could do nothing with him. The Canelo performance was more than embarassing.

Very embarrassing for a 21 year old fighter to lose to the greatest fighter of the last 15 years. I wonder how Canelo will ever live that down and be taken serious again....? Oh wait....
