That makes sense, but need I remind you that when Canelo beat GGG these same people, including yourself, were going on and on about how GGG is a very old man. But now these same people are picking him to beat Munguia. This is hypocritical.

You can't have it both ways. Either Canelo's win over GGG last September was a solid, impressive win worthy of credit, or GGG is completely shot and no one would ever pick him to beat Munguia, who may not hit as hard as Canelo, but is very difficult to beat due to his work rate, is in his prime, etc. Which is it then?

Dude their styles are different. It's hard to land clean on Canelo whereas Munguia defends with his face. A massive puncher like GGG is going to have an easier time against something that he can hit easily than Canelo. Surely you can see this.

Very true lol, but Munguia also has a very high work rate unlike Canelo, and is very capable of absorbing GGG's punches and outlanding GGG round after round. How's 41 year old GGG going to keep up with Munguia's work rate round after round?

The point still stands that GGG is 41 years old and looked very unmotivated vs Canelo, yet the poll is 33-5 picking him to win. That indicates that fans here still rate GGG if that many people still fancy him to beat Munguia at this stage. The same GGG who you and others were saying was so old and washed up back in September. But apparently he's still good enough to beat Munguia a year later.

ai caramba you are in form today. Golovkin might not keep up with M. Which is why I said "if he has anything left" 41 is very old for a boxer.

33-5 thus far are predicting that he can and would if they fought. That's my point, the poll indicates the vast majority of fans believe he can and would. But you have your doubts.

The style matchup favours GGG. Always has. But I don't think his heart is in it anymore. I think he's 41 and thinking of other things. A fighter that isn't motivated runs the biggest risk of losing. Assuming Golovkin was up for the fight and physically capable of it, I think he'd massacre Munguia simply because of how the styles mesh. M is still developing as a boxer whereas G is the finished product.

It's an insult for GGG to be mentioned as an opponent for this kid. He's shite.

The last thing I would do if I was Golovkin is fight another Mexican on his terms. GGG could win all 12 rounds and they'd announce a draw.

Thats because an old GGG only lost 7-5 to Canelo in the trilogy fight and Canelo is much better than Munguia.

If GGG won 5 rounds last September then Canelo won 5 rounds against Bivol. Most fans had both fights much wider than the judges scores indicated. If you recall before the fight I predicted that GGG would get favorable scoring and that if he even came close to winning he'd possibly get the decision. Well he did practically nothing for the first 2/3s of the fight then kept the last 4 rounds close and ended up only losing 7-5 according to 2 judges. If the shoe was on the other foot you'd claim corruption. But in any event, regardless of how close you thought it was, still the problem is that hardly anyone was giving Canelo credit for that performance claiming GGG was so old. But yet those same people are predicting him to beat Prime Munguia at 41 years old, so I don't wanna hear how old and washed up GGG is if people think he can still beat Munguia.

The ghost of Golovkin is still too good for almost the entire MW top 10. And definitely too good for Munguia

Regardless of how close the fight was or wasn't, they were never going to give it to GGG. GGG won the last 4 rounds and the first. The 6th was very close as well. Canelo just nicked alot of those rounds. It was pretty easy to score on fight night. You can't just score every close round for Canelo. The reality of that fight was Canelo won. One can make a case for it being 9-3, 8-4, or 7-5 for Canelo. 9-3 in my opinion is watching it with Canelo glasses on in my opinion. To me 8-4 or 7-5 are very reasonable score's. The Bivol fight was by far more one sided than this one for sure.

    This is the right time
GGG can still take it with sharper counters
Yet Munguía will put him thru hell one last “Mexican style!”

Munguia has no defense, at all. Even at this stage of his career I think GGG would stop him.

This is sad that Munguia is still a developing fighter. He had an amateur career and 42 pro fight and is a so call champ yet he often gets mention as still learning and developing.

Personally I think he is what he is. There isn't going to be much development. He is a volume puncher, good chin, and decent power but will never become an elite fighter. His weakness ( speed, defense, ring IQ) is something he won't be able to overcome. His fight with Chenko. He hurts him bad with a body punch. He is hurt very bad and takes every last second of count. So what does Munguia do? Head hunts when all he had to do was put right glove up on side of head and throw left to the body.
