No, the first round was not clear for GGG, nor were the last 4 rounds. In Canelo Bivol, the 9th round was clear for Canelo and the first four Canelo was a lot more competitive and landed far better shots on Bivol than GGG did on Canelo in the last 4 rounds. To remind you how the public reacted to the scores, here's an article : https://fansided.com/2022/09/17/twi...inning-boring-trilogy-bout-gennadiy-golovkin/ "115-113 is a disgusting score. 116-112 is pretty filthy too." "im sorry but how tf do you score that 116-112 or 115-113? i was gunning for GGG but my god that was at least a 118-110" "Canelo Alvarez secures a 116-112, 115-113, 115-113 victory over Gennady Golovkin in #CaneloGGG3. Didn't think it was nearly that close." "Lol 115 113 ??? And 116 112 ??? These judges must have slept for the first 8 rounds lol #CaneloGGG3" etc etc So no, Round 1 was pretty even, could be argued for GGG, but definitely wasn't clear for GGG. Rounds 9-12 were close and arguable for GGG but still many people thought Canelo won those. Go through eye on the ring scores : https://www.eyeonthering.com/boxing/saul-alvarez-vs-gennady-golovkin-iii Look how many scored rounds 9-12 to Canelo. Very even split of the last 4 rounds. So most people saw it as very one-sided, and the overwhelming reaction was that Canelo won it far wider than the judges had it. There was a similar reaction to Canelo Bivol, with fans thinking Bivol won wider, but it was a far more competitive and entertaining fight. So again, if you thought that GGG won 5 rounds vs Canelo, then you should have no problem with with Canelo winning 5 rounds vs Bivol. Round 9 was a clearly Canelo round vs Bivol than round 1 for GGG against Canelo and Canelo landed better shots on Bivol, was the ring general in rounds 1-4, pinning Bivol against the ropes, etc, vs GGG against Canelo who simply landed a couple of shots here and there in the last 4 rounds after doing next to nothing for the first 8. Glad we clarified this.
Thanks for the link to eye on the Ring, i gave up looking for it. The thing one can observe by viewing this is there are rounds that some gave to GGG that was generally viewed as Canelo rounds. The thing is Canelo won a few clear rounds, but the rest were close. GGG never let Canelo get carried away, and Canelo knew that he better respect GGG and pace himself or he could make himself vulnerable down the stretch to a very dangerous apponent. My honest fight night score, which i feel is very accurate was, i had round one even, but upon rewatch i thought GGG won it clearly but close. Rounds 2-8 i had for Canelo, and rounds 9-12, i had for GGG. Rounds 6 and 8 were very close as was round two. Those giving it to Canelo 11-1 or 10-2 might as well have turned off the picture and listened to the DAZN telecast only, who had GGG landing only one or two jabs in round one, they being biased as they were gave GGG 3 rounds only which i thought was absurd.
I don't have a problem with 7-4-1 Canelo. That's very favorable GGG scoring, though. Round 1 was pretty even, 10-10 is fair there. All I'm saying is that rounds 9-12, while GGG stepped it up, those weren't all clear for GGG. You can argue those for GGG, like you can argue 1-4 against Bivol for Canelo. The problem is that you want to claim that GGG won 5 rounds like 2 judges had it but then say Canelo winning 5 rounds against Bivol like 3 judges had it is corrupt. If you want to take that approach, that it was 7-5 or 7-4-1, which I think is very favorable for GGG but certainly arguable, then you should at least respect the fact that 7-5 Bivol is arguable and acceptable as well. GGG arguably "edged" rounds 9-12, Canelo arguably "edged" rounds 1-4 against Bivol, but those were each very even "could go either way" kinda rounds. You could just as easily score 9-12 to Canelo and have it 11-0-1. It's really splitting hairs to choose who won rounds like 1-4 against Bivol or 9-12 against GGG.
Ive only watched the Bivol fight about 3 times, i scored it without sound as well. I can say this, Canelo was sure trying and slinging missiles, and was dangerous, but couldnt get it done. Both those fights were different. The trilogy fight , i was very disappointed in, but now i see what he was up to, and he came up short.
Would be a war, but im not sure a 40 year old GGG can go to war with a young buck at this stage of his career. Munguia can crack and GGG would be right in front of him so he wouldnt be hard to find, i wouldnt say GGG is completely shot but hes not what he once was (obviously) when he was trying to get a young Munguia in the ring with little experience at the higher level. This version of Munguia stands a chance to win, while the younger version would have gotten obliterated. 55/45 in favor of the Munguia. I have it a pretty close fight because Munguia takes punches to the dome like its the thing to do, and if Chenko was hurting him im sure GGG would hurt him as well.
