The laugh of it all is, not only are matthew macklin and andy Lee irish....but your hero Martin Murray is too! Probably.
I mean to say "Martin" is a common Irish first name, right?
"Murray" is a common Irish surname, no?

Im no expert, but what are the chances of a guy not being Irish, yet having both an Irish first name AND an Irish surname surname?

If it looks like a duck......

Murray is ignored & people write him off - there's no denying that. But people jump on the GGG band wagon like mad.

Fact is the odds Are stacked against MM but this is boxing , anything can happen.

One thing I'd be sure of, Murray isn't easily intimidated - the kid fought an Argentinian legend - in front of 50k argies, he fought felix in Germany & in both cases there was argument that he was robbed. Guarentee one thing, the mental strength of Murray is not questionable !

He won't crumble at all , may lose , may be stopped - but he won't wilt, he'll stand and be counted!

& matt Macklin is English ! He's said so himself - he's a strong "allegiance" with Ireland , but he's English! He was on the English school boys squad Ffs!

& lee is an Irish traveler , born in England raised on the roads over the water - so theoretically English by birth Irish by descent - no ifs , no buts , that's the facts!

Didn't take much poking to get you to show your true colours eh Len ?

    Inbuilt inferiority complex ?

Id rather judge a fighter on his talents instead of his nationality, or more to the point his religion.

Pretty embarrassing to be quite honest, and i'm sure theres rules about that sort of thing on here.

It's just that I've never seen a domestic boxer get so over-rated so quickly, and more to the point, more undeservedly as Mullokers Murray did a few years ago. A pretty basic point, really, I would have thought.

Another pretty basic point about El Ploddo would be his undoubted irish connections. The clue is in the name. Except, once again Shakey doesn't get it.

Now, when Murray is facing a p4pfighter and probable future ATG, nobody cares. It's amazing. Where are all Murrays fans gone? Only Shakey seems to even care some small bit about this current huge fight versus GGG. Dear oh dear. .....tut tut.

Murray is world class, no doubt about that. And he's got huge bottle, he's fought every top MW champ of his time.

I think he might stretch GGG to rounds 6-8, possibly 10. Mart just doesn't have the fire-power to finish the job though.

Top Boxer and severely underrated, IMO.

I hope he gets the job done, but it's a tall order.

Surprising Murray never made more of his undoubted Irish roots. It never gets mentioned.

Cos he would probably get slated for being 'plastic', like someone else in his division...

But surely it's sny port in s storm? Murray is almost a complete unknown. He has zero profile.

Profile and ability wise I would rank my "top 3 " BRIRISH middles as follows:
    1. Macklin
    2. Lee
    3. Murray

But Murray is nowhere near as well known as the others.
