Both in their primes who wins. I take golovkin by late stoppage.

GGG is from another planet to what Joppy was, it would be very one sided, GGG easy win.

C'mon Mark! You know you want to! Ask Eye Of "are you serious with all these goofball threads?" You wouldn't be wrong..

I would be very comfortable in picking Golovkin.

GGG would be too much for the likes of William Joppy, who gets stopped by round 6. Too much pressure, right hands, by Golovkin causes Joppy to wilt and go to sleep for the full 10 count.

    Mismatch.

Joppy was very very fortunate to come along when he did. He'd be no more than a run of the mill contender in many era's & a non factor in the land without numerous title belts.

I think Joppy does better than:

    Kell Brook
    Dominic Wade
    David Lemieux
    Willie Monroe Jr
    Marco Antonio Rubio
    Daniel Geale
    Curtis Stevens
    Matthew Macklin

He doesn't do as well as:

    Saul Alvarez
    Daniel Jacobs
    Martin Murray
    Kassim Ouma

GGG winning a comfortable decision or stopping Joppy from 8 on seem the most likely scenarios to me.

Joppy was a pretty good boxer. I agree he was only a belt holder because there were multiple belts floating around. He isn't the only fighter you can say that about. He was far from the worst champion.
Trinidad almost took out Joppy in 1 round. I more or less see the fight going the same way as his fight with Tito. William adopted the Sugar Ray Leonard style without the talent to pull it off at the highest level.
Joppy did go the distance with Hopkins.
