***Mod edit*** This news is from last month. GGG and Macklin had a talk on twitter about their possible fight in June: This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected Then we can see another opinion from his recent interview “It is a really tough fight. I am not going to get in with him in June after only having a round in 15 months so what they are trying to do is make a double header in June with Gennady Golovkin in a world title fight with me on the card. The idea being if both of us win we fight each other at the end of the year.” So it seems we will have Golovkin - Vera, Macklin - Lee doubleheader in June. Then, winners will fight each other. I can understand Macklin for wanting one more fight before fighting Golovkin. But people shouldn't blame GGG for fighting Vera after the Ishida fight. Top middleweights decline to fight him in June. What do you think?
Maybe the Barker fight sounds more appealing. That and he'd probably lose given how poor he was last time out.
Yeah, he wouldn't be able to get away with a Fitzgerald performance against Macklin. :verysad Is there any reason for him to believe a Barker match is guaranteed to happen, besides them publicly chirping about wanting each other?
Macklin will get a soft fight and then fight Golovkin and lose. Would really like to see him in with Geale or Quillan though.
Id be down for that, Macklin vs Lee is a fun fight. Have a feeling it wont come off though. If it does, will be a nice fight to see and then GGG vs Macklin, which would be a fun fight too. Then hopefully all that can set up a Martinez vs GGG fight for Martinez's last fight.
That's a better fight for him than GGG, because he has a chance to beat Jr whereas NONE to beat GGG. I also beleive if they had the fight in San antonio that Vera would earn twice as much for a fight against Jr than he'd make vs GGG anyday.
