Loeffler said they won't announce the opponent until the end of February so Geale may still be a possibility i guess.
Uhhg. Lee just is not a good fight. Truax would be worse, based on his last performance. Kirkland is a fight I cant get too interested in unless he fights a ranked MW first and wins. He only had half a camp with Wolfe before Tapia, throwing him in with GGG next seems like cheap fireworks. Though I was reading he is actually likely to be fighting on the April undercard, which makes a lot more sense. If K2 wants to build bigger overall events, putting Kirkland on as opener is a shrewd move. GGG/Kirkland double-header is one night of good action boxing and sure to sell. Really, I am hoping for Geale or Murray in April. After the Adama sparring match , fans deserve a top rated MW fight if one can possibly be made.
andy lee has had his ass tore up one too many times to warrant this being considered. Geale at least to his credit has never taken a beating or stopped... and he was a recent belt holder at least.....Lee hasnt done jack ****
I guess it makes no sense complaining about Lee like I did earlier. Golovkin massacres anyone he fights at 160, so what does it matter who they throw in with him?
lets see..... 1) there is losing.... 2) and there is getting the sh.it beat out of you like a red headed step child Geale at least won a title, lee hasnt done DICK
Other than the fact that lee was on his feet both times he was stopped? And winning on the scorecards?
yes, getting the holy shi.t beat out of him. perfect opponent for the biggest puncher going right now....you know a guy who was beat up by brian vera and a pot smoker in chavez
Kirkland, Geale, and Lee are on Golovkin's short list. I think Golovkins best choice would be Geale, but Lee and Kirkland are known in America, still Geale is the best choice...........
I think it was how Lee lost that makes the difference. Geale's yet to be stopped. Though it terms of skill Andy Lee is probably of a similar level to Geale. I can't say for sure, obviously, but with Geale fighting Wood on the 19th the turnaround might be a little fast for GGG on April 26th - if the rumours around Kirkland fighting on the under are correct it would kinda make Lee the frontrunner...though from the sounds of it the Geale negotiations are still going apace so it's quite possible that we'd see Geale fight Golovkin on his next outing. For me, with Quillin and Maravilla unavailable and Sturm apparently showing no interest, Geale is they fight they should be trying to make. Murray would be acceptable as well (though he looked pretty awful in his last outing against Khomitsky) - I guess I'd like Mattvey Korobov as well, but he needs to get a coupla bigger fights in first. Lee is just about passable IMO, he's a skilled, quick fighter, but he's just a bit too vulnerable and hasn't done anything since getting stopped by Jr (admittedly a fight he was winning against a much bigger guy). Moras name gets tossed around a bit, and whilst he ain't really that good I'd be interested in the fight stylistically. I'd be happy enough with Lee, Geale then Maravilla for this year - possibly a Kirkland fight could end up replacing any of the 3 tho, which could be entertaining - I'd rather Mandingo got a semi-decent MW scalp under his belt first though. I think there's enough left at MW for this year and possibly the start of 2015, but would hope GGG will move up to 168 sometime next year.
Garth....Wood......Wood is a tune up fight and a 9 week turn around is perfectly reasonable and should be far more common. I would love to see Golovkin vs Geale Lee vs Korobov Kirkland vs whoever Try to get Chavez for July but if he goes with Froch or Ward then you can fall back on the Korobov vs Lee winner. I honestly don't think Martinez will happen this year, possibly at all.
