its a good fight. GGG will still knock him out. but lee is still a legit fighter. i dont think hes so avoided as people say he is. but who knows. i think he is being moved along slowly but there is nothing really wrong with that hes still fighting damn good fighters. hes just not fighting that number 1 or 2 guy. lee was doing fine vs chavez but lee just got tired from boxing on the move. if lee comes in better shape that night to box 12 rds maybe he woulda won. and for andys defense didnt chavez skip out the drug test?? i mean that guy just seems suspicious to me.
Golovkin would run over Lee and Kirkland as well but atleast a Kirkland fight would be all action until it ended. Geale is the best option being considered and actually a solid opponent for Golovkin. HBO seems to love the idea of Kirkland facing Golovkin and since Lee is on their radar as well then HBO should have Kirkland-Lee on the undercard as a way to build up a fight with Golovkin. Its actually a nice fight in its own right.
I'd expect Lee to do better than Macklin did. But I see GGG catching up with him around roun 7-9 and stoping him with body shot. Lee won't go down easy from head shots and the size of the ring will play a huge factor. GGG needs to fight Lee in a small ring otherwise he will eat lots of long jabs for his troubles.
Zbik went 12 rounds with Chavez JR yet was stopped by Sturm. Sturm is no big puncher but it shows style make fights.
Barker is quite skilled, his body just gave out on him. Sturm is also very good, he just gets (justifiable) crap for the extreme lengths he went to avoid fighting GGG and some dodgy hometown decisions. I think GGG/Barker would have been a great fight with a healthy Barker. In retrospect, now knowing exactly how precarious the situation with his hip was, its easy to understand why the fight was never made and hard to fault Barkers team for not making it.
Lee doesn't look durable enough to hang with Golovkin as well as either Stevens or Adama, but watching Geale struggle with Barker really made me lose hope for him pushing Golovkin either. I vote N'Dam for April. Somebody with some movement and fast hands.
I'd like to see Golovkin vs Geale in April. Geale fights on Feb. 19th. If he takes a week off after that before he gets back in the gym, that leaves 8 weeks until April 26th. He wouldn't be doing any real training the week of the fight because of press conferences/public workouts/media commitments/weigh ins. That leaves about 7 weeks of training for the hardest fight of his career. I'd be very surprised if we see Geale on HBO in April.
Golovkin knocks out any current jmw or middleweight. you can run but you can't hide. you can't overpower him. whatcha gonna do when he comes for you?
