I'm reading online that an offer has been made and that it is big enough that Frank ****** and Billy Joe Saunders are considering it. I think Billy Joe Saunders is better than Canelo and would beat him but get robbed. Stylistically Golovkin may be a hard fight for him but it still won't be easy for Golovkin and I could see Saunders causing him a lot of problems with his intelligent southpaw movement, counters and punch resistance. Monroe Jr caused Golovkin some problems. Billy Joe Saunders clearly beat the vastly over rated Eubank Jr and then Eubank Jr ducked a pencilled rematch. This is a tougher fight for Golovkin than Lara in my opinion as Billy Joe Saunders is a fully fledged middle weight with a better chin and just as much amateur pedigree.
Remains to be seen, hopefully it does get made. It would be one of the few legit fights at 160 GGG could have. Like you say, BJS is a legit 160lber with some decent attributes and pedigree.
Tough ask for BJS but he's a realist and money pays the bills. If he does take -good on him but it will be a very short title reign for him.
Monroe Jr made it awkward at times and caught Golovkin with a few good shots. Great performance by Golovkin though.
:good YES !!! HBO needs to pump up GGG to the general public. BJS gets a $uper Pay Day. Kinda a WIN-WIN for everyone.
Win-Win-fight for Saunders. He is still young and can built back afterwards. He has Eubank jr. number so WHEN he loses, he will take couple of tune upp fights and then to next money fight. If he doesn´t take offer, he will loose his career high payday. He should take it.
Speculated to be a 3-4 million dollar offer for a fight in the United States. This fight would be best case scenario as it would lead the GGG/Canelo fight to not just be a unification, but a fight to be the first undisputed MW champion in a long while. It'd make the fight even bigger and would be a great selling point to casual fans.
Fingers crossed for this one, To have this fight followed by GGG v Alverez would be a great 2016 for him then he can move up in weight. I think Saunders is a tougher fight for GGG than Alverez as would Lee and maybe also Jacobs. But ive always said nobody beats GGG at this weight.
BJS said in an interview after his last fight that he would prefer to wait 12 to 18 months before fighting GGG. I tend to agree that JBS would be better off waiting if not for a BIG PAY DAY... that apparently is being offered by HBO. As others have said, JBS could substain a loss to GGG and still recover his reputation, because of his age. Canelo's loss to Mayweather hasn't seemed to tarnish him much.
