    lol yes it was. punch stats for round 12 were : Overall - Alvarez 21/64 32.6% GGG 20/89 22.5%. Power Punches - Alvarez 19/53 35.8% GGG 10/31 32.3%.

It was definitely a close round, but I did give to GGG for his several impressive single shots and punctuations of exchanges (showcasing boxing skills) but I was being generous to GGG as it can certainly can be argued for Canelo on work rate, more punch stat landed punches, way more power punches and effective aggression that forced GGG to throw way more jabs than any other round in the fight.

Well all anyone was talking about after the fight was round 12 and how it was such a clear GGG round how it couldn't be scored to Canelo, a round that the judges were split on, but yet the punch stats have Canelo landing more punches and Canelo appeared to be outworking GGG. GGG did have the most dramatic moments of the round though and his showcasing of his boxing skill was enough for me to score it for GGG, but it was not an easy decision. You had that about the 12th round but no one was talking about round 11 which all the judges had for GGG but that seemed to be a clearer Canelo round than the 12th which I thought was more of a toss-up. Still the 11th was tough to score as GGG did have his moments but I thought Canelo just took over that round and won it down the stretch. Canelo finished the 11th much better and stronger than he did in the 10th which is another reason to give the 11th to Canelo, as the 10th was solidified down the stretch by GGG at the end of the round in the final 10 second, Canelo appeared to solidify the 11th down the stretch in a close but clear Canelo round.

As to round 1, that's another round that was close and one that I thought Canelo could have won but even though GGG was fighting off the backfoot and Canelo seemed to be pushing the pace, still I came away impressed with how GGG fought that round utilizing the jab to great effect. I recognized that here and gave GGG the round, GGG though only landed 1 power punch according to compubox while they credited Canelo with landing 3 power punches.

GGG came out this round jabbing, arms up hunched over jab jab jab. So GGG proved here you can win rounds with just the jab and all 3 judges recognied GGG's jab and gave round 1 to GGG. Canelo was jabbing too but he was still trying to establish range and missed on several jab attempts. Canelo got in some nice jabs as well like the one with 1:09 left in the round and Canelo landed a nice left hook that caught GGG flush on the face with 40 seconds left in the round. A key punch for me was the short jab by Gennady with 35 seconds left in the round. That seemed to surprise Canelo right when Canelo was moving his gloves. Then you had Gennady finish the round with another solid jab with 7 seconds left in the round. This time however Canelo comes back and returns fire with a hard jab of his own. I wonder what the only power punch compubox had Gennady landing in round was, maybe it was that right hand over the top with 30 seconds left in the round.

Those two jabs that Gennady landed in the final minute of the 1st round probably won him the round on the judges cards. Round 1 was truly a jabbing duel as it had the highest jab to power punch ratio of any round and it seemed to me that Gennady won the jabbing contest that round and while Canelo did manage to land that clean left hook it wasnt particularly hard, as GGG's jabs were much harder and significant than that left hook.
