It will unify all the titles, the Ring title is owned by Golden Boy which is why Canelo could fight above and below the middleweight limit in his last 2 fights yet still hold the "title." When a fighter vacates a title and goes back to his original weightclass the Lineal cycle has been broken and #1 & #2 fight to establish a new Lineal champion, which is what GGG vs Jacobs was. But for whatever reason rules don't apply in the case of Canelo, which is how he still is the ring (Golden Boy Owned) champion, it's BS, and I choose to not put any stock in it. And how does me saying GGG won convincingly not show respect? GGG is the one that won the fight, why the **** would he give Canelo the titles he holds, that's stupid, and just because I don't want to see it again because there is no point, doesn't mean the man that won should give the guy that lost the titles.
Anybody who thinks Canelo is Lineal and "Ring" MW champion after that robbery need to quit watching this sport and stick to WWE. 117-113 GGG
Just rewatched the fight and I am more convinced that GGG has even more chances in rematch. https://www.sports.ru/tribuna/blogs/boxingko/1408300.html A bit of review of the match for your understanding.
If it's in Vegas again it would be pointless, he could beat him more convincingly the second time and it's more likely he gets a loss.
If I was GGG I would avoid a rematch because they will throw even more crap his way in the next bout. Just look at Ward vs Kovalev 2.
For some reason I'm not too excited for a rematch. More of the same. In 3 years GGG will be 38 though. Ahh father time.
I wonder though, Ward managed to negotiate better terms on second rematch, will this be case for GGG? I am actually wondering who needs this rematch more?
Does anyone know if the rematch will be immediate or with interim bouts first? I for one wouldn't mind seeing both Canelo and GGG fight BJS or a top contender such as Jacobs/Lemieux/Charlo/Derevyanchenko before the rematch.
Ward was given the victory in the first fight so he had the ball in his court when it comes down to negotiations for the rematch. That's why Kov got much less money than in the first bout. GGG come out of this fight looking a million times better than Canelo who was booed by even his home support. Canelo needs the rematch, not GGG.
I feel like GGG is on the way out. The legend of GGG, potential of Canelo being a giant killer in a rematch, and tonights debacle would mean to me Canelo needs it more.
GGG had no rematch Clause, Canelo did if he lost it was to be immediate. I think GGG should tell Team Golden Boy and Canelo to **** off, and look for the unification fight with BJS, give Jacobs a rematch or look for a huge money fight in the UK with the winner of the WBSS SMW tournament. Those 3 fights then retire, **** Vegas, **** Golden Boy & **** Canelo. GGG made a ton of new fans tonight, he doesn't need Canelo to make big money now. Canelo on the other hand, where does he go now after clearly losing and the majority of his fans know it. What big fights does he have to look forward too?
Sounds like you're scared of a rematch. Luckily I don't think G is like you, as he indicated in the post fight I fully expect G to rematch Canelo otherwise it will be seen as cowardly. Fans deserve a decisive winner.
Yes, getting the BJS fight would be the best option career-wise for GGG. Canelo will want the rematch afterwards anyway. Canelo will want the BJS fight too though, it he gets it instead that would leave GGG to battle one of his two tough mandos (Charlo/Derevyanchenko).
