I think that they thought GGG was old enough and slow enough to be beaten. Canelo has levelled up since his last two fights. It's not unreasonable for Canelo/fishnets to assume that Alvarez could last the fight and that the judges would take care of the rest.

I don't believe Golovkin would purposely not throw in order to let Saul off the hook.

There must be another reason behind this and I'd like to know it.

    Spot on.

Its easy fighting B and C level and look like Superman but the fact remains once GGG stepped up to genuine A talent not starved skinnies he looks more like a slightly more polished version of Vasilly Jirov.

For all of his granite chin talk GGG sure backed off several times and was very wary of counters, apparently his fans have a lot more confidence in his chin than he has.

The reason why he did not go to the body because it would have left him wide open to Canelos counters and he sure as hell respected Canelos power, no doubt.

GGG crouch/lean forward makes him also a prime target for uppercuts and Canelo certainly hurt GGG on several occasions with it.

On a side note, it is obvious now that GGG will never move up and the Andre Ward talk was pure fiction to self promote..............Saturday 's GGG would not last the distance with the Ward who fought a couple of months ago, complete blow out. FACT.

I thought GGG's attack was subdued, even though he applied pressure he seemed hesitant at times, and has he ever looked slower?

Reality check.......GGG anihilating Canelos was a mere formality according to his fans......afterall according to them Ward was ducking him and he frequently ko'ed Heavyweights in sparring...........after Saturdays cold shower Fact met Fiction and GGG is a very good fighter but not a extraordinary one............head to head against past legends he would pick up more losses than wins.

The GGG fanboys will never acknowledge that maybe the step up in comp had something to do with it.

Its not like you can look back to 2010 and see him beating better fighters is it? His record was average until he met Jacobs. And how good really is Jacobs?
Polaxed by Pirog and his best win his Jarrod Fletcher who was stopped in one round by Saunders.

If GGG is old at 35 , then how great is Mayweather for dominating Canelo at 36.. Floyd musta been shot to bits when he pitched that shut out , right??

    Jacobs best win is Quillin
GGG at 35 is like most boxers at that age
    Floyd is TBE no comparison
Also ggg is pressure fighter who actively tries to destroy opponent not win points like floyd
